Human Subraces
Therians
Theria is the capital province of the Empire, the place it all started. Before the Emperor's reign, it was a nation very heavily under the control of
Axiom. Asimaar and other Axiom planetouched were incredibly common. Centuries later, the Emperor's policy of pushing back against the influence of the metaplanes has diminished this heritage, but most Therians still have the touch of Axiom upon them, minor though it may be. The official propaganda line is that the traits Therians derive from this ancestry are a result of their devotion to the Virtues and the Emperor, and in an unsurprising lack of introspection, discrimination of other planetouched people by Therians continues unabated.
Therian Traits
Therians have a hang towards unity of purpose and "the greater good". Part of the reason the Empire works is because of the striking capability of Therians to put themselves into the shoes of others, and make them feel as if they've been understood. Another part is the uncanny discipline and coordination with which elite units of Therian soldiers carry themselves in the heat of battle.
Therians lose the
Skilled trait that other humans have. They gain the following traits instead:
Soulbond: Therians can cast
Status once a day as a Spell-like ability (with a caster level equal to their character level). Anyone linked by the Therian's Souldbond receives a +2 on Diplomacy and Sense Motive checks targeting anyone else within the bond. Starting from 5th level, the Therian's Soulbond also grants the effects of the
Telepathic Bond spell. If a creature under the effect of a Soulbond casts Soulbond on new targets in turn, every creature affected becomes part of the same network. In this way multiple Therians can work together to link up as one. So long as one acive Soulbond in the network is of fifth level or higher, the entire network benefits from its effects.
