Drowned Crowns

Long before dukes and kings ruled the land, the coasts and scattered isles belonged to an ancient seafaring dynasty known now only as the Drowned Crowns. Their cities, palaces, and temples are said to lie beneath the waves, swallowed in a time before history began.

Fishermen and wreck-divers speak of carved stones and gilded artifacts washing ashore, objects bearing inscriptions in a language no scholar can read, etched in silver and green-blue glass. Stranger still, some claim to dream of spiral towers beneath the sea, of bells that toll in the deep, and of pale figures watching from beneath the surface.

Though the Church of Holy Law dismisses such stories as salt-drunk nonsense, many believe the Drowned Crowns were not entirely human, and that their kingdom is not as dead as it seems.
