Tucked between a candlemaker’s shop and a spice merchant in the heart of Coppergate, the Cat’s Lantern Inn offers weary travelers a warm hearth, honest fare, and a soft bed—so long as you’re paid up front. Named for the soot-black cat said to live in its rafters, and the ever-burning lantern hanging from the signpost, the inn is a favorite among merchants, apprentices, and low-ranking adventurers. Its common room is lively, with stew always on the boil and news drifting in from every road in Othvarand. While not the grandest lodging in Crodeux, its stable service and strong cider have earned it a loyal clientele.

Sleep comes easier with the lantern burning. Even the worst nightmares seem to pass it by—as if whatever’s lurking on the road outside dares not step into that light.
