Abyss

The Abyss is the great devourer, the unmaking, the fate that awaits all things should Law fail. It is not a place, nor a force, but the absence of structure itself—a hunger without form, a void without limit.

The Church of Holy Law teaches that the Abyss is what lurks beyond the Chain of Law, a vast and unknowable darkness that seeks to unravel the world. It is the fate of heretics and oath-breakers, the punishment for those who reject the Architect’s divine order.

Where the Abyss touches the world, reality weakens. Some speak of places where time frays, where the dead do not stay buried, where thoughts themselves turn against those who think them. It is the source of demons, madness, and all that would break the world apart.

To stand against the Abyss is to uphold Law. To fall into it is to be forgotten, erased, or changed into something unrecognizable.
