Personal history

Caralio Was born in Rasinoplita during his father's reign. he was personally tutored by Erasmus in his early years, he learned about politics, ethics, and he was given an immense education in the art of battle strategy and tactics as Erasmus feared that a civil war would start soon with all the corruption in the empire. After his father died, Caralio was crowned as Holy Divinar at the age of 17, and he began his long rule.

Early Reign

He began planning on reforms to the empire as it had begun to stagnate into corruption. The nobles weren't big fans of this, as in his fathers reign they had been allowed to enrich themselves with money that was supposed to go to building public works and other amenities for the people. Then he began limiting the power of the nobles, making it so they had to go through him if they wanted to raise proper stratos armies, and increase taxes. He also established a group of generals who personally reported to him, and send them to all corners of the empire, therefor he would always have someone to deal with problems when he was out on the frontiers.   The nobles were outraged with these reforms and with their powers slowly dwindling, they revolted, Caralio had done too much, too quickly. They put his weak brother in charge, closed the gates of Rasinoplita to Caralio, and with it most of his money, the only people who chose his side being Fabien's Guard, His group generals, and a few nobles. Then news arrived that a huge Bezjan coalition army was moving to sack the great city of Karillia, which was the capital of an old empire long ago. There were no armies close enough to intercept the horde except Caralio and his Guard, so he marched to the small mountains on the coast right in front of Karillia, the battle can be read here: The Battle Of Karillia

The Geld War

He was victorious, the city of Karillia was saved, and the Volitari cheered for him. Noticing this Caralio promised the Volitari that he would put native Volitari in charge of the Tarian provinces instead of disconnected Fabi. Hearing this the Volitari pledged loyalty to Caralio. Now he had the Volitari Armies, elite Gestari, and Hesnar. This is also when he met Thea Katrar a very skilled general from Denarra, they met in Karillia as Caralio was exploring the great city, he was at an inn playing board games with various people, when Thea Katrar challenges him to a game of Taria Batlar, a game about battle tactics. They spent hours trying to outmaneuver each other, and they end up falling asleep in the middle of their game to the displeasure of his bodyguard who has to stay in the inn and make sure nothing happens. After this Thea begins accompanying Caralio on his Campaign.   When the nobles heard of the Volitari supporting Caralio they raise an army and march to Helarn to ensure the city's loyalty however Helarn doesn't let them in, they, therefore, begin sieging the city however, Caralio army intercepts them and Crushes them with the help of Thea. Caralio offered every soldier he captured an opportunity to join his army with equal pay for all, most men joined him and the noble’s armies began defecting to him. When he marched to take Tarethia, the city just opened its gates for him as the people of Tarethia had overthrown their governor for handling a bad harvest and economic failure by taxing them Very highly. Caralio recruited a lot of urban poor into his armies and marched to finally take the capital back.   Many nobles at this point came to surrender and beg him to spare their lives, Caralio agreed in exchange for stripping them of governorship and giving him intel. From their intel, he learned that an army was planning on ambushing him on the way to Rasinoplita. He sent Thea with a part of his army to lure them out, and when they began their ambush, Caralio attacked with all his Hesnar cavalry and slaughtered them. With all of their armies depleted the nobles surrendered, The Geld War was over.

A New City

When he arrived in Rasinoplita, he began delivering on his promises. He put native Volitari in charge of their provinces, though he did also send Fabi representatives loyal to him, to report on their behavior. He reformed the army making the Stratos more generalist troops capable of building defensive fortifications. The colonies on Saril were given more funding as they were making a fortune for the empire. He even send Fabi representatives down to the Fedrian kingdom and the Artemisian city states. The Empire enjoyed Three years of prosperous peace, and due to an economic boom, Caralio thought it was time to fulfill one of his personal dreams, he wanted to found a city.   He picked a location close to karillia, the Sarti mountain range, and the Gelvina river. The first citizens of the city would be veterans of his army, given land in the city, he named the city Carlemai, after himself. He commissioned many buildings in the cities, including one of the wonders of the world, The Cathanendra, a giant temple dedicated to the Fabien, Gemiknight, and Nesus.

The Haezda War

After four years of peace, a massive army of Bezjans invaded Taria putting Denarra under siege and looting any villages around the city. And at the same time, a revolt in Etethelli occurred led by remnants of the defeated nobles. Caralio gathered some veteran Stratos from the geld war as well as some recently promoted Stratos and Stratis. He marched to Etethelli and demanded that they surrender, if they didn't he would let them starve under a long and gruesome siege. They didn't listen so he left the inexperienced troops to starve the city until the people deposed their governor and opened the gates for the troops. Caralio engaged a small horde of Bezjans outside Carlemai and crushed them, at the same time Thea lead the defense of Denarra, when Caralio attacked the Bezjans, Thea charged them with her elite Hesnar cavalry. After this they engaged an army trying to sack Karillia, the battle was a draw with heavy losses on both sides, though it was enough to make them withdraw. After this the Bezjans decided to try and attack the land of Thyrimia instead, Caralio and Thea were hailed as Saviors of Taria or Salvitars, a title previously given to Fabien himself.   After they were driven away from Taria, the Bezjans attacked Thyrimia. The ruler of Thyrimia, Hallfarn the Sanguine requested aid against the Bezjans, and Carlis responded by sending a small army of Rasini as a delegation, to strengthen their relations. Thea also traveled to Thyrimia to lead them for a short time, and crushing the Bezjans in the battle of Dristonja, after this Thyrimia and Rasina became strong allies.

Rasina Seathes Egnartasias

The wars were finally over and Caralio and Thea held a huge festival in Rasinoplita with food provided by the empire given out to the people. They also hired a large amount of musicians to play in perhaps the worlds first orchestra, the result was a barely coherent ensemble of sounds that slowly became a semi coherent ensemble of sounds. After the escapades the couple ruled the empire during the most peaceful period in the age as roads were built and trade was flourishing. The Rasini populace was also enjoying the benefits of being the richest people in the world at the time such as, clean water, the first welfare system and public theaters, sports and schools, with the famous university of Helarn flourishing. They even had a son at this time who they named David. For 19 long prosperous years the empire stood atop the mountain of states and empires as the Greatest state there had ever existed, Not even the great empires of Sczenanina and Karillia could match it. And although there were still problems they slowly began to seem fixable. But it was not meant to be.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Won the civil war and ensured that Rasina wouldn't fall to corruption.   Married Thea Katrar (now Thea Nadia) an intelligent Volitari general from Denarra, especially talented in diplomacy and war.   Reformed The Rasini Army, making it more diverse and flexible.   Expanding the defensive border forts on the Bezjan border.   Conquered southern Kassathia from the Bezjans.   Funded various famous Rasini public works like The Statue Of Fabien in the ruins of Kathatas, and The Cathedral of Caralio in the city of Carlemai speaking of...   He founded the city of Carlemai, Formerly a medium sized castle in the south, Caralio made it a large and well fortified city in the middle of the trade routes from Karillia to the city of Koszby.

Failures & Embarrassments

The campaigns in the north ended up hurting the empire more in the long run.   Failed to mend a growing schism in Rasina between moderate Geminists, and radical Geminists who believed Fabien was the only god of Geminism, these radicals would be known as Quacky-Geminists.   Failed as a parent to teach his son about the importance of morality and kindness. Because of this his son David the I became an effective but cruel ruler reminiscent of Rasmus The Conqueror.

Intellectual Characteristics

Carlis was a very gifted Battle commander and a skilled ruler. He was educated in theology and politics by Erasmus. He always stopped to thoroughly think through every move he and his opponent would make in battle as well as in diplomacy.
