Merezi

The Twin Souls, The Seeker

"You think you have discovered the gods, yet I can confirm to you they have existed for longer than you or even we. Take care that you do not assume you know the mind of those you worship; I can personally attest to the contradictory nature of such as they from a mortal perspective. I recommend relying on their assistance only insomuch as you are willing to pay any unexpected price for what you request."
-visiting Elvish ambassador, known worshipper of Merezi

It is said that true acts of creation or destruction are not possible for any being overseen by Ohm, which is every being. Perhaps this is why the deity who oversees both aspects seems mad. Merezi manifests as an elf, for reasons S/He has never explained, and can shift from moment to moment in her/his demeanor. Even worshippers of the mad god are reluctant to involve themselves more than necessary directly with their patron; they cannot predict accurately what help or hindrance the shifting being may decide to offer. Temples to the Twin Souls do exist, but even there her/his name is not often invoked.   Most worshippers of Merezi are found in that small portion of the population that can truly be called wizards, spending their lives in pursuit of magical knowledge and development.

Holy Books & Codes

What Ebbs, Flows//What Flows, Ebbs is the closest thing to anything like a bible found among Merezi's worshippers. Written in a variety of languages, its cover is two-toned, one side mirroring the other. No matter the language, the book is always cleverly written, such that it can be read from either cover in opposing directions. In one direction, it speaks to methods of binding objects and creatures together, calling them from far-off places, or attempting to harness and convert raw energies into material form. Read in the other direction, the book offers guidance in breaking objects down to their component pieces, or even to an energy state, and sending creatures and objects away from a location.   Many varieties of the tome have been confirmed and studied, no two copies seeming to speak on exactly the same subjects and methods. It is theorized that a finite number of versions exist, and collecting and studying them all would give a reader unparalleled insight into the basic workings of existence.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

A circle with two filling colors separated by a sinuous line, Otherworlders have called Merezi's sign a 'yin-yang' symbol, but say there should be spots of the opposing color within each side. What hidden knowledge they have of the god's nature, these visitors are never able to explain, and so the symbol never changes.

Tenets of Faith

"Always craft, adding to the knowledge to be passed on//Hide all knowledge, destroying those who would gather it."

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Merezi seeks knowledge of the raw forces of the Engine of Creation, hoping in one moment to share it among all who would listen, then destroy any who would seek it out in the next. S/He doesn't seem particularly put out by her/his followers favoring one over the other in any pattern discernible by mortals, making contact with her/him risky; s/he may opt to either help or hinder a given request, depending on factors beyond mortal understanding.
