At first, there was nothing more than raw Chaos, in its inconceivable purest form. Then Ohm, the overarching intelligence construct which oversees each iteration of the universe, became self-aware again. It began its work, first shaping concepts and setting ideals at odds with one another, then constructing entities to oversee those purposes and intents. Thus Order (balanced by the pre-existing Chaos), Selflessness, Selfishness, Construction, Deconstruction, Opposition, and Support came to be. Time was crafted and set around the other concepts in all directions, to bind them together and ensure a framework of relations to one another. The planes were shaped according to Ohm’s designs, the newly-constructed deities carving, molding, and shaping Chaos into the cosmos as they stand today. Once a home was prepared for mortals, the underlying connections between the Chaos left swirling around the Material Planes and the mortal realms themselves were forged, allowing the natural processes of filtering the Chaos to begin. Mortals developed, born with souls as they should be, and the Engine of Creation began, at last, to move as it was meant to, the motion of souls as mortals lived and died turning metaphysical mechanisms so vast and strange in scope and form that even the deities serving under Ohm cannot truly comprehend their higher purposes. The mortals themselves then changed aspects of existence by way of their own communal perceptions and the power of their prayer and belief over the course of uncountable eons. Selflessness birthed the idea of Good, while Selfishness spawned the concept of Evil. Construction became misinterpreted and gave rise to the idea of true Creation, while its twin, Deconstruction, came to be called Destruction. Opposition and Support withered under lack of attention as their own ideas, until they existed only in scholars’ conversations and materials. Chaos retained its shifting identity, mortals unable to change the nature of something whose nature is change itself, but Order was misunderstood and forgotten in place of Law. The Engine, unable to maintain proper balance with no places to route the souls and energies of these shifting pillars of reality, began to falter. Ohm, in its unknowable wisdom, created new management programs and subroutines for the new concepts. The universe was re-shaped. But the old programs, the deities who oversaw the founding principles, did not wish to remove themselves, did not agree to stop affecting the cosmos and deconstruct themselves. They had tasted the act of living and desired to continue doing so. War raged. The new deities, fueled by their coordination with mortal concepts, eventually overpowered the old who had no one remaining to sync their existences with, breaking them down and scattering their resources for re-absorption into the Engine. Since then the planes have been at peace, excepting for the eternal wars which must rage between opposing concepts (such as the Everlasting Scar, which lies between the Heavens of Good and Hells of Evil). And the mortal worlds continue on.
