Etellaerion

The Gift-Giver, The Eye-Blinder

"Make sure you share it about," the old man said as the children scattered with the handed-over bread. "You're very kind, coming by to help like this when you don't have to," the orphanage matron said with a smile of thanks. "'When one gives to another, both gain,'" he quoted in response, returning her smile. His eyes tracked over to a sudden commotion along with hers in time for them to see one of the boys strike a girl and snatch her food. "Tearrah!" the matron snapped. The boy flinched, shuffling reluctantly over with his eyes downcast. Opening her mouth to scold him, the matron looked over in surprise as the man spoke in a level tone, asking, "Why did you do that, boy?" Tearrah shifted nervously, shrugging. "So the only reason was to harm that girl, then," the man mused, his voice cold. Catching sight of the symbol pinned to his cloak and his hand thoughtfully tracing the dagger at his belt, the matron went cold. "H-he's young yet; I'm still raising him correctly," she said urgently, protectively pulling Tearrah close. The man seemed to consider her words and the boy for a long moment before offering her a disarming smile. "Of course," he said. "I'll see you next week, then."

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Etellaerion's drive to promote the ideals of Good are not far removed from their sources in Selflessness, at first glance. She wishes for her followers to give of themselves to others for the benefit of the others, and to promote the same behavior.   However, she also demands her followers to seek out and eliminate evil wherever it may be, in whatever form it may be. In its most extreme form, the interpretation of this edict has spawned blood-soaked crusades which had to be forcefully ended. In lesser forms, literal interpretations of her commands are the source of her second title; devout worshippers will maim those they consider to have done evil acts, rendering them permanently blind as retribution.
