Waycabin Turtlebrook

The first built of the luxurious "cabins" that the trains and boats (and carriages in a couple of places! Adventure!) stop at to let the passengers out to stretch their legs and enjoy the fresh air. The trip through the extensive farmlands of the Kingdoms is a lethargic trip through idyllic scenery. Vineyards abound; indeed many call this "Wine Country", and the entire experience is designed to showcase the "rustic strength" of the people.   Of course, it is designed to focus on "rustic strength and individuality" from a safe distance and on a moving train, for the most part. The populace at large do not possess the resources to pay the exorbitant fees necessary to cover the amenities and lodgings along the well curated route. The scenery has been carefully groomed to look wild within one hundred yards of the tracks, on either side. To this end, the "Waycabin" is built with enormous timbers in an artisanal manner commonly referred to as "Post and Beam". The wood has been smoothed enough as to not give the casual brush of a finger any kind of splinter, but the adze and axe marks from the smoothing process have been strategically left on the visible surfaces.   Turtlebrook is a cozy, warm place full of natural color palettes and sheets that always seem to smell slightly of pine. The rooms are made up as soon as the travellers leave, to get ready for the next bunch, who will be returning on the second running boat.

Infrastructure

The place is filled with amenities at every turn...including a (now follow me, here) self-serve, soft serve ice cream dispenser in the Great Hall. There are spa treatments available (massages and etc.) for an extra fee, and Lesser and Greater Restoration seminars that last a few hours but really feel fantastic during and afterwards. Valets lurk around every corner in case their passengers need anything.   There are always towels twisted tightly into the shapes of different animals waiting for the passengers when they return to their sleeping quarters, whether on board or here in the Waycabin. It is quite the lavish experience to be able to simply hold out your glass for a refill.

Assets

The Waycabin itself has "Engineer's Quarters" for the employees that must stay in the house, but the rest of them live in a dorm nearby the estate, hidden behind a conveniently planted stand of thick pines. The state of the art kitchen takes over the upper floor entirely, except for a pantry and a couple of apartments for cooks who are spending the nights. The chefs will cook meals on demand, at any time of day or night. The rest of the building is luxury housing for the well-to-do and their entourages.

History

Construction on Turtlebrook finished up in 5424NG, being the first of the cabins built. The others then came about in short order, and the construction workers who had been allowed to stay in the building were kicked out to go work on another project for the TPLC™. They are very talented artisans. Lydia Hartunian only hired the best.

Points of interest

Each room in the house is just slightly different, each set up in anticipation of each individual passenger's desires. Elk horns and other trophies of the hunt adorn some of the walls. The grandfather clocks were built by none other that Gnelson Gnelson, III! He also designed the dumbwaiter systems and automatic laundry vats. But his most popular invention in the building, by far, are the soft serve ice cream machines.   Each suite has its own bath and washroom, and very often a den with access to a small library of volumes, curated to reflect the culture and idiosyncrasies of whatever locality that particular cabin is in.

Architecture

They are built with huge timbers sourced from "up north". It is a widely known "secret" that Lydia bought all of the raw timbers from her uncle, and his huge logging company, rather than locally, in order to save some money on the build out.

Climate

The climate at the cabins varies in accordance with the cabin's theme and idiom. Turtlebrook is a rugged, log-cabin-adjacent vibe, for example, so the climate has been magically altered to be a neverending autumn. Others are spring, or winter, or summer of course!
Waycabin Turtlebrook
One of the state-of-the-art "cabins" for the travelers to use along the TransPax Luxury Coach Company's line. Turtlebrook is the end of the line on the Craysilt side. The two end cabins, Turtlebrook and Canal View, are the same basic configurations and size, as very often customers will overnight prior to, or just after, their trips.
