Purple People Eatin' Tradition / Ritual in Tellus | World Anvil

Purple People Eatin'

The Purple Worms of the Rhegev Desert regularly engage in a game throughout the desert sands and under the glass of Glaine Cuan, wherein they hunt those travelling the surface. It is a structured and quite often sponsored competition. The winner gets the chance to meet and mate with the Queen.

History

The purple worms of the Rhegev Desert have been competing like this for many generations. Called by them the sSizzlickknal, the indigenous peoples of the Rhegev Desert have come to calling these the Purple People Eatin' Contest.

Execution

At the outset, the contestants and their initial territories are determined. They will then alert an arbiter when they are stalking prey, and begin acquiring points as they can. The point scheme is as follows:
  • 1 Point for detecting a group of prey on the sand, 5 on the glass.
  • 1 Point for every mile the prey is driven, or 5 on the glass.
  • 5 points for detecting a single traveler on the sand, 10 on the glass.
  • 10 points for each character swallowed whole on the sand, 15 on the glass.
  • 7 Points for each character killed on the sand, 10 on the glass.
  • 5 points per vehicle destroyed. 50 if it is an airship. 100 if it is an oceangoing vessel.
  • 50 points if they swallow an entire family whole and can prove it was a family.
  • 1 extra point for tieflings, halflings, or goblins.
  • 100 Points for a Gnome.
  • An arbiter rating between 0 and 10 will also be applied.
May the worst worm lose!
