Elven Altrustic Corps

Nym Adrona stared out from the navigation deck pensive. The scouting ships had docked, and rumours ran ahead of them with confirmation of the readings from the Divination division. A sphere had materialized in a sector of empty Space, followed by a brilliant flash of light, and now nothing.   Correction, it hadn't been a sector of empty Space, while no spheres had been present, the nebulae gases that formed that sector were well known as a Kindori hatching waters. "Commandant," Scout Leader Berel Iguith said as he joined him at the rail. "I bring news, it's worse than we feared, the surge in wild magic was as the diviners had revealed, a Sphere of several planets and a large yellow star materialized out of the Astral Sea, we're not sure how or where they came from."   "That at least explains the light and the magic upheaval. And it's going to throw the Kindori mating cycles off by centuries, but if the sphere is in neutral space it's not going to upset anyone politically at least."   "The sphere's been destroyed, Commandant."   Nym turned to face Berel, a stunned expression crossing his usually neutral appearance. "Destroyed? How,? Was it pirates? Illithids? We're trillions of miles away from them."   "No, I'm still receiving information from those scouts I left behind, but it appears that when the Sphere entered this plane, one of the central planets was sheered in the process, the resulting explosion created a cascade that rippled out from there."
"A whole sphere was destroyed because one planet was pinched?" Nym felt his stomach drop out, and icy dread raced down his spine. He spun on his heel, leaving Berel to follow him from the Navigation deck to the helm.   "Helmsman Gartha, full speed to the Asheran an Filleadh. Leuitenant Trisven send out a call to all ships under our banner to rendezvous en route."Nym didn't wait for his orders to be followed, he turned sharply to face Berel. "Was the planet populated? What are their numbers?"   It's too soon to tell Sir, my scouts believe it to be populated and they are searching the debris for evidence of survivors. Our one bit of luck in all of this is the Kindori are not in birthing season, otherwise we could have lost an entire generation."   "We still could, Captain," Nym said, heading to the cabins and offices. Officers, and other crew raced about the ship around him as orders funnelled throughout The Ithuriel preparing his command room for what was going to be a difficult mission.

Culture

The EAC is a branch of the Imperial Fleet and as such is a regimented and orderly peacekeeping fleet. The Core beliefs of the EAC is that where there is war there is hardship. Hardship is defined as any environment that a reasonably progressive society would consider deleterious to the continued growth of a society and the overall wellbeing of the common person.   While the EAC has a deliberate non-engagement clause when it comes to internal conflicts of a species or Sphere, that is only for engagement in war activities and should any person or persons request the aide of the EAC they are duty bound to act. The actions they may take are limited, they cannot attack openly, only defend their own fleet and those under their banner. They are able to offer refugee status and humanitarian aide to those who request their assistance, and they are entitled to act as diplomatic mediation on behalf of a species or multiple species to come to common ground.   They are very by the book, and have a reputation of being officious, but certain members of the EAC are known to be hot headed and jump to the needs of those who are in danger across the vast Astral Seas, those are often part of the Scout Class. The EAC is a strict and rule-bound body that prides itself on decisive action for the prompt safety of those in need.

Public Agenda

The EAC is a supportive class of the Elven Imperial Fleet, they have a deliberate non-engagement in conflicts and direct fighting. They are responsible for assisting those in need in the surrounding environs of the Elven territories and aide those who have lost their home due to violence, devastation, or other means.   Their goals are very clear, no species shall come to harm as collateral damage to any war effort or disaster. As such they are often sen on the outskirts of warring nations maintaining supply chains for civilians and re-homing those who wish to leave these dangerous areas.

Assets

The EAC is a fleet of heavy ships for rescue, supply, and scouting. They have delegations in several sectors and where there is political will enough to have an embassy green side, the EAC has offices within.   Astral Elves are quite secretive about their wealth in personal matters, but keep public records for the wealth management of their fleet and public offices to ensure proper use and delegation of funds.

History

The EAC began in the midst of The Long Wars, a series of small skirmishes that boiled over into outright warfare for hundreds of Sectors against several forces, including but not limited to the Illithids, Beholders, Eldritch Abominations, and Planer Deities. During such battles, several sectors faced mass devastation, a contingent of Astral elves, adrift from the rest of their squadron mounted a rescue of an asteroid under threat. The Asteroid was a small mining village, it had nothing to do with the larger conflict but due to collateral damage from a battle going on in that sector, the asteroid was bombarded by all sides of the war effort.   Only two hundred strong, the elves, lead by Scout Leader Gweyir Kelkas raced through the bombardment and rescued as many villagers as they could before the asteroid succumbed to the damage. They lost several of their crew, but a not a single civilian was lost and they were able to limp back to the Fleet.   Gweyir was commended in the news, but privately decommissioned for their 'attitudes regarding proper war etiquette'. They spent the next two years Green side on Seldar, and worked with Captain Taranth Farie to secure the necessary political power to create their own division. At first the EAC was a simple division, bound to the rules of engagement as any other member of the imperial fleet. But by 359, with the reality of The Long Wars finally reaching Seldar and the 'safety' of the Elven Territories, the powers that be mandated a new mission, and separate fleet. the EAC was born, still connected to the Eleven Imperial Fleet, but codified as a peacekeeping body with separate yet equal rank among the Imperial Fleet.   On the 8th day of Marponeth, Gweyir Kelkas was sworn in as the First Commandant of the Elven Altruistic Corps and maintained that position before retiring in 587 OC.

A Beacon in the darkness. A light of hope.
