Jinsaya

The Redwood City

Jinsaya - the rock that stood the test of time. The glue that holds Loquintia together. The first city settled in the Isles, by the Jordanians as long as 200.I. Truly Jinsaya is one of the elves' greatest achievements. With the elegance of Atlas and the ironclad resilience of Ammania, there is nothing that she cannot withstand and nobody she cannot enchant.

Government

Jinsaya is under the domain of Loquintia, a monarchy presently ruled by Grand Patron Mel Quintus and his council.

Defences

Jinsaya is naturally defended by the forest that surrounds it, as its residents are the only people on Tarroc who truly know how to navigate it - to anyone else, it is a massive labyrinth that none could hope to escape, but the Jinsayans are one with it, and navigating it is as simple to them as walking down a straight road. The Protectorate of Loquintia patrol the city high above the forest floor, traveling amid the canopy to grant a bird's eye view of the city and its surroundings, unseen to most who wander below them.

Industry & Trade

Jinsaya's most profitable industry by far is the wine industry, though they make reasonable amounts of money from both tourism and selling the other fruits and flowers that grow between the redwoods.

Infrastructure

As one of the wealthiest cities in Eastern Tarroc, Jinsaya's infrastructure is remarkably advanced. Instead of having roads on the forest floor to lead you through the city, wide wooden bridges connect between trees throughout most of the city. The only areas where people actually walk on the ground are the few where wildflowers and fruits don't grow, and the outskirts of the city where the less wealthy live. Lanterns hang from the tall tree branches to light up the city, both during the daytime and nighttime as the forest canopy blocks out most of the sunlight. The city itself is divided into three districts: Aspenhome, the Vineyard, and the Enchanted Wood.

Aspenhome

is the primary residential area in Jinsaya, housing around 60% of its population. All but the most and least fortunate Jinsayans live here, residing in homes either carved into the massive redwood trees or built around their trunks. In order to save space and preserve the forest, homes tend to be stacked on top of one another, rising hundreds of feet into the air, with a complex web of rope ladders and bridges connecting them all.

The Vineyard

is the least densely forested area of the city, and where most of its finest grapes grow. Aside from housing about 35% of the city's population, the Vineyard is also home to its farms and many different types of businesses. Whether you're searching for a magical weapon or an exotic fruit only found in the Khazari Jungle, the Vineyard is the place to be.

The Enchanted Wood

is home to Jinsaya's social elite, as well as most of its entertainment. The Grand Patronage of Loquintia convenes here on a regular basis, in a large tree at the center of the city entitled the Grand Oak. There is also a large park surrounding the Grand Oak named Overmoon Park. Perhaps the most impressive feature of the Enchanted Wood, however, are the bioluminescent lifeforms that reside here. Glowworms hanging from the canopy resemble the stars of the night sky, Jasmine Geckos alight with hundreds of different colors crawl around the trunks of the redwoods, making the entire district a living whirlwind of color and beauty.

Guilds and Factions

The Grand Patronage of Loquintia, its governmental body, is headquartered in Jinsaya.   The Cleric's Order of Gond is an order of magical healers following Gond, the God of Creation, which has its roots in Jinsaya, though they have members all throughout Loquintia and Jordania.   The Protectorate of Loquintia is the faction of guards tasked with protecting Loquintia, which keeps a watchful eye over every part of the city.

History

Jinsaya was founded in 200.I by a group of elves from Jordania who had only just begun to branch out from their homeland and explore Tarroc. Over the millennia, it has evolved into a thriving metropolitan area, and when Loquintia broke off from Jordania in 450.I, it was named the capital.

Architecture

Architecture all throughout Loquintia is unique in that houses are not built on the ground, but rather into and around the trees themselves, as a measure to preserve the forest which the Loquintians consider sacred. Homes are constructed mostly out of redwood, though there are many other types of trees in the Glade which are used for construction. Houses are usually built as closely to the tree trunks as possible and with a circular shape in order to preserve space, as the city's walkways tend to be narrow compared to the roads of most modern cities. Rope ladders reach towards the canopy to allow for travel between the city's layers, and because of its elaborate system of ropes and bridges, walking through Jinsaya often feels like walking on the strands of a spider's web.

Geography

Jinsaya is located in the heart of the Loquintian Glade, far from the shores of the Dead Sea in the Mal'ka'nor Bay, and about 100 miles north of the Dark Ridge.

Natural Resources

Jinsaya is considered the wine capital of the world. On the forest floor, Tarroc's sweetest grapes flourish, dancing between the trees on thick, green vines, amidst a rainbow of other fresh fruits. The Loquintian Glade is also the only place in Tarroc where redwood trees grow, though the Loquintians choose not to export them, claiming the entire forest as a holy site for Silvanus.
