Feathers And Foods - A Rahnika Cookbook

Banner by Terry-Lynn L!
Rahnika cuisine is far more palatable to most esseni than the cuisine of other draconic races. Laiosa Cuisine in particular has caused many esseni to avoid trying anything remotely draconic in origin.   One Rahnika decided to try and change that, marketing a recipe book that includes dishes that the more delicate esseni palate may find delicious. "Feathers and Foods" collects a variety of the warm, hearty recipes that Rahnika are known for into a single location. The book has become quite famous, and many have tried at least one of the recipes within.   Typically, Rahnika cuisine makes use of the domesticated Elk or seals that the dragons raise for meat, and the hearty crops that they are able to grow (such as carrots, parsnips, beets and cabbage). "Feathers and Foods" makes reference to fruits that may be available via southern markets, or trading. The book also makes reference to other meats that could be substituted for elk should it be in short supply.

Purpose

"Feathers and Foods" is meant to bridge the gap between esseni and dragons in terms of their cuisine. Draconic food has a terrible reputation as being inedible mostly due to the knowledge of Laiosa Cuisine. Stereotypes also common, some particularly backwards Shikahni are convinced that Rahnika eat esseni for most meals.   The book is meant to push those false notions away.

Historical Details

Public Reaction

The Rahnika offered a copy of the cookbook to the esseni man, smiling. Her feathers flicked as she spoke. "It is pleasing to see an esseni so willing to experience our food and culture,"   The man smiled back, eyes wide and excited. "Yes! I can't wait to try out the recipes! Which do you recommend?"   The Rahnika gained a mischievous glint in her eye. "Oh, I would recommend the esseni chops."   The man stared at her for a long moment, his smile frozen before she laughed aloud. "It is a joke! A joke! The Elk chops are lovely."
"Feathers and Foods" has changed public opinion of Rahnika cuisine significantly, though some still are convinced that Rahnika will eat esseni.
