Cuisine not for the faint of heart!

"I-I dunno..." The esseni looked unsure, staring at the glass of orange liquor in front of him.
"What," the Laiosa all but purred, leaning one arm on top of his head and wrapping his tail around his shoulders, "you're gonna wuss out on us?" The Laiosa looked to the others of his race in the bar, his grin all teeth. "Our new friend isn't gonna accept our gift!"
The other Laiosa booed and made sounds of complaint until the unfortunate esseni grabbed the shotglass and downed it.
"Shula take me, he actually did it." One laughed as the esseni instantly turned bright red and spat as much of the liquid out as he could.

Laiosa, being dragons aligned with the element of fire, tend to have the element in every aspect of their life. From their Funeral Rites, to their cuisine, Laiosa truly embody the flame.

Cooking

Most other races of Tarin simply cannot handle the level of spice in Laiosa cooking. It doesn't help that most Laiosa cooking uses the pepper known as Shula's Breath. The pepper only grows in the rich volcanic soils of Laios, and is known to be the hottest pepper on the planet. No other culture on the planet utilizes Shula's Breath in every aspect of their cooking. Indeed, most other locations on the planet can hardly handle a single slice of one of the peppers. For Laiosa tastes, food without a generous helping of at least some kind of hot sauce is simply unpalatable. If none is available, Laiosa have been known to simply scorch the meal until any other race would call it charcoal. Laiosa just call it "well done".

Drinks

Just like Laiosa food, Laiosa drinks are also rather extreme. Due to the magic that allows Laiosa to breathe fire even in esseniform, Laiosa tend to have extremely high tolerances for alcohol. The alcohol simply burns off too quickly for them to really get drunk. As a result, in order to even get a chance at a buzz, Laiosa liquor is almost pure alcohol. Esseni who have tried Laiosa drinks typically go running for the nearest garbage can as soon as they take a sip. Laiosa think its absolutely hilarious to have an esseni try a particularly strong Laiosa drink, just to see their reaction. If their preferred drinks aren't available, a Laiosa patron is likely to drink a bar out of alcohol before they get their buzz.
The drink that frightens esseni the most, however, is Shula's Embrace, a Laiosa liquor that has been infused with Shula's Breath peppers.
