Wert Ackerman

Faithful of Anderi

Wert Ackermann’s life had been laid out for him at birth. Born into a farming family in Warwick, Wert’s first 35 years went pretty much according to plan. He worked the farm with his family throughout his youth and grew tough and robust from the hard work. As he came of age, he married his wife Bronwyn, had four children and continued to work the land. He appreciated these constants in his life and expected them to continue until his inevitable aging and death. The Ackermanns were far from rich, but they managed to get by well enough. Wert had little to do with religion but participated with his family in a cultural sense in the worship of Anderi, though he never truly believed in his heart.

However, everything changed during the torrential rains of the growing season five years prior. Storm after storm brought cold, drenching rain, swamping the fields and ruining their crops. The Ackermanns, along with nearly all farmers in the region, teetered on a precipice of impending financial ruin, starvation, and death. Wert dug deep inside his very soul and begged the great Anderi for mercy and salvation, offering his commitment and worship in return for his aid. Anderi answered…storms cleared, the sun shined down upon their crops and they managed a decent enough harvest to survive. Wert was a changed man, now with an open channel to his god Anderi in his heart and mind. He no longer prioritized the needs of the farm and his family, instead focusing on service to his god and his promised penance. Soon, he left everything behind, his wife, family, farm, and possessions, to begin his spiritual pilgrimage to Eldoria to demonstrate his fervent devotion. Throughout his journey, he has brought his faith to the faithless and radiant light to the deepest, darkest corners of the land.
