Rinna Hale

Sister of Mercy

Sister Rinna is young, no older than her early twenties, yet the lines of exhaustion on her face suggest she has carried more than her share of burdens. Her green eyes, however, sparkle brightly when she works in the infirmary at the House of Mercy in Pendril. With her sleeves pushed up and dried blood smudged along her forearms, she looks more like a battlefield medic than a priestess, darting between patients with determined efficiency. And while she will certainly minister to the sick and elderly, something about making decisions in crisis quickens her pulse.

Out of the infirmary, Rina is soft-spoken but firm, her faith unshaken even as resources run thin. Compassion fuels her, but practicality tempers it—she has learned that healing is not just about kindness but survival. Her drive to raise funds for the hospital has put her on the wrong side of more than one patron but she soldiers on, determined to raise coin for those who cannot afford it. Her intense passion makes her seem a bit abrupt even during moments of silent worship and most parishioners take their prayers with different clergy if they can manage it. None of them, however, would take their sister, brother, mother, father, child, or spouse to anyone else.
She seldom speaks of her youth and those that know her best know not to talk about it. Something clearly happened in her past that drove her from Galencia, the heart of Arimathica's church. The only hint she betrays is a the occasional offhand sarcasm about the church's hierarchy that she might offer in an unguarded moment, usually when one of her patient's life hangs in the balance. The elders at the House of Mercy have never said a word about the comments. Whether that is because Arimathica preaches forgiveness or Rinna's skills in the infirmary, it is difficult to say.
