Fahrom Devan

Dharjan Emir

Fahrom ascended to the rank of Emir at a young age, after seeing a mere 16 winters. His youth, however, should not be confused for naivety as many whispered that his father's untimely death was not of natural causes, despite the pallor of his skin in his dying days. It was also not likely his youth that caused him to eschew the ritual scarring begun by Shazar Findiir. Instead, if the tales told of palace life in those days are to be believed, it was his vanity. More specifically, it was the vanity of the young captain of the guard - a dashing horseman to whom it is said the Emir gave his heart. The captain could not bear, it is said, to see the young Emir's visage so scarred. Regardless of the cause, Fahrom managed to change the tradition by embracing his namesake with even more fervor, declaring that the god could see the scarring in his soul and was offended by mortal attempts to show devotion through the scarring of the flesh.

Sadly, the young captain, who's name is lost to history, betrayed his Emir years later, leading a failed coup after gathering support from tribal leaders at the fringes of the desert who refused to cease the practice. The Emir, ever practical, strangled his former lover himself.
