Elarna Greypelt

Caretaker of the Bongo Woods

A quiet force of nature, it is clear that Elarna prefers to spend more of her time shifted into her totem spirit than her fellow worshippers of Chetria. Bound to the old ways with traditions that predate niceties like ceramic plates and stone walls, walks the line between woman and beast. She bears subtle signs of her ursine tendencies, short, a thick mane that even though beginning to gray reminds one more of fur than hair, and eyes the color of warm amber that glitter brightly in the moonlight. Her heavyset frame, built for survival, not speed, remains remarkably graceful despite its bulk and the number of winters she has seen.
She speaks seldomly, but when she does, her voice is steady and rooted like an old tree. She makes her home in a moss-ringed cave near the center of the Bongo Woods. While she rarely entertains visitors, hunters and woodsmen that frequent forest all know her - if not by name. She is spoken of in whispers - a force of nature that keeps a watchful eye intruders. As a predator herself, Elarna has no problem with those that prowl the Woods, taking what game or timber they need. These regular guests of the forest tell tales of Elarna receiving mysterious aid. A bear that led a lost child home, a hunter with a broken led awakening, healed, in a cave alongside a litter of orphaned bear cubs, and a strange old woman, patiently explaining the difference between belladonna and nightshade are all tales that have made their way from the woods to farmsteads and camps both north and west of the forest.

Those that exploit Woods, however, killing for more than they can eat or selling off its bounty for such petty things as silver and gold, however, quickly find themselves introduced to a different version of Elarna. Tales abound a huge bear, that appears, legend states, in the darkness of night, as silent as a shadow with the fury of Chetria herself and has taste for Human flesh. Trappers, hunters, and lumberjacks for hire are warned of this monster by locals who warn them to take their trade elsewhere.
