Day of Creation

Part of the myths and legends surrounding the faithful of Chetria, legend has it that on the Fourthday of the Firstden of the Crimson moon in the first year after the creation of Tarien, Jez'bali'dahn and Chetria looked over the world that they had created. And while they were pleased with what they saw, they understood that like any creation, it must be nurtured if it were to grow. Yet in their wisdom, they knew that they could not nurture the land. Their obligations to the vast cosmos would prevent it. And so, they created a daughter, Chetria. Charging her with nurturing the land, they left their daughter to tend the garden of Tarien, only returning on occasion to provide oversight. And thus began Chetria's life and watch, first of the gods and responsible for the balance of creation.

Chetria's faithful mark this day with both the solemn reflection of the awesome responsibility placed upon their goddess and a celebration of her birth. Beginning at sunrise, a daylong service, filled with the songs and beauty of nature as well as self-reflection, is held. Whether held by an individual in solitude or flock of worshipers, the service lasts until sundown when the faithful celebrate Chetria's birth with feasts, fires, and songs that are rivaled only by Beltane - another of Chetria's holiest days.
