Daemon Lords (Ruinous Powers)

The whispered nightmares, the horrors in the night, the boogeymen, the dark desires of civilized kind. Many things they are called, many things they are known. Abyssal Gods, Dark Children, Shadow Reflections, Twisted Deities, Chaos/Daemon Lords. These beings are the powers beyond the horror, though many amongst Valerick, especially amongst shorter lived races, like humans and half orcs, it seems the younger generations may be....slipping a bit. They waver in their willingness to fully believe the tales. They are not to blame, as its because their lords, kings, Empress, and the soldiers that follow all of them loyally, have done so well protecting them. However, despite this age of revitalization, many of the longer lived races fear that these....struggles to believe and remain pious and believe and understand what happened...well they see it through fearful eyes. They look at it as potentially the cracks beginning to show in the Empress' most divine plan. However they still trust that there has to be some truth to the stories and tenets, so for the time being anyway, it seems that nothing terrible will come of this. Yet.
  However these fears are well justified, as in recent years, temptation and the rise of daemon cults has seen a small, but noticeable spike in occurrence. Because lately, it seems, that almost always it is a human or half orc who leads them.
