Pirate {Any Race}
Take what ya can, and give nothing back!!
Piracy is no longer just the realm of the nautical sort. Sky-Pirates are a thing, though not truly Pirates in the same sense. They are merely folks who happened to find a crew willing to operate the sky-ship they stole or managed to cobble together so they can take to the skies. It is rare, and exceedingly more dangerous and absolutely one hundred percent illegal. Contrary to that, good old fashioned piracy has a long and storied history with pretty much every nation-state. Mora still embraces such an economy fully. They used to be called privateers, and had a license to ply their...craft so long as they left any vessels flying the Morain Colors alone. This law still stands, and her allies support her despite they and every other nation state having outlawed piracy full stop.
Truth is, the idea of 'prize of scavenge' is also technically illegal, but far less easy to enforce. Basically looting a fresh shipwreck is a crime you are to report it to local authorities. Of course enforcing this is nearly impossible, and as such this is how most 'pirates' begin their lives, merely as cargo scavengers, hanging around areas known to be treacherous waters, waiting for shipwrecks, maybe sometimes....helping encourage....such things. Pirates are those whom almost got caught, did get made, or perhaps stumbled or otherwise were found by such folk and offered a job and a life of wild adventure and wealth. This can be true but likely will never be, and pirates hold to a code of silence and service, one cannot easily leave such employment alive if one wishes to leave. Beyond that comes a Pirate Captain, these men have their own boat or ship, a stretch of water they ply, and generally a hideaway/hidden port they make dock at, a camp or abandoned ruin, or hard to find cove or cave. Beyond this of course, are local captains whom have become something beyond a mere pirate. They have gathered the wealth, influence and reputation to enforce tribute over a larger area from any other captains and enforce some form of loyalty. They have done this generally through shows of skill, wealth and of course, intimidation, murder, and iron-fisted control. Also helps they generally have the biggest vessel and crew in the area. So called Pirate Kings
Piracy can be an adventure in and of itself of course, but pirates can find themselves in all sorts of mischief, given their need to avoid the law, the military and do good civilian types, along with bounty hunters of course. As such pirates can regularly find themselves going into hiding, especially if their vessel is taken but they escape, or if a shipwreck and they were part of a well known crew.
Role: A Pirate is an excellent amphibious combatant, a strong frontline ally on land or sea. They also can come with some...seedier social connections, and a decent skill set to handle themselves when stealth is an order of the day. Pirates also oft know places to lay low all along the waterways should one find themselves wanting for such refuge.

Other Benefits
Not beholden to any noble house, military or law. A 'free' man.
Perception
Purpose
They are the highwayman of the waterways and to a lesser extent, on rare occasion, skies. Similar to how Highwaymen are will generally be involved in the rare assaults on locomotives as well. They don't really fulfill a place in society, so much as they are seen as a problem interfering with society.
Social Status
In Mora they are looked on with favor as to be part of Mora's navy more or less means to be a privateer (or a pirate by any other nation-states opinion). Elsewhere they are seen as thieves and scoundrels and criminals deserving naught but a hangman's noose. Publicly at least. In many poorer areas along the coasts and rivers, secretly the citizens support them, as they bring in prosperity and wealth, even if only for a brief time when they take a prize.
Demographics
You will find disenfranchised folks of every race and creed plying this craft.
History
Piracy has a long and storied history to this day in Mora and indeed did in all across Valerick until quite recently, about two hundred years ago. Nation state after nation state removed sanction, then outlawed and then increased the punishment to death by the noose for piracy great or small.
