Ffiɡài {Halflings} Species in Tariek Rough Collection | World Anvil

Ffiɡài {Halflings} (ˈfɪɡai)

"There is good luck, there is dumb luck, and there is halfling luck. Halfling luck is absurdly dumb luck" Unknown researcher.   the Ffigai, or Halflings as they are commonly known, are a race known for their happy go luck demeanor, and general zest for life. They see things simply, and enjoy the little things. Good food, happy music, the sun, the sweet smells of spring. Many see them as tiny humans in some ways, and some are convinced they are a strange off shoot of humanity, a subset of the species that doesn't grow up the same way, staying child sized forever. This isn't exactly true, though they are indeed genetic relatives, they are entirely separate races. Halflings live a fair bit longer than their human cousins as well, another separation of their species, living to be 200-250 years old

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Ffigai culture and tradition is a strange one, with strange behaviors, and even odder views on right and wrong. They are gamblers, socialites and fine diners. They love nothing more than games of chance and even have a habit of trying to convince anyone or anything threatening them to indulge them in a game of cards, dice or other such. Winner take all, for whats a game with no stakes? They are also a wide spread group, though Kang-Chorath is known by most halflings to be their nation of heritage.

History

Ffigai history is an odd beast in that it isn't often codified in true writing, so much as odd poems and catchy little tunes. They tell their stories of their history as children's rhymes and songs, letting their history be carried organically, orally via passing from parent to child. This is changing with the age, certainly, but it is still very much the halfling tradition.
