Zavan
God-King of Setti
Zavan is a chief deity of multiple religions, including Theism, The Sanunian Devotion, and Avenism. He is the ruling god, or "God of gods," King of the Deific Plane, husband of the goddess Ava, and father of the prince-god Argo and the goddess Kholestia.
He is represented by setti, the number ten in Sandwind.
Zavan is characterized as being regal, kingly, "perfect," good-hearted, strong, all-knowing, and self-sacrificing. He can be a bit of a show-off and is not humble, but neither is he a braggart. He is impartial and balanced, and always considers the big-picture, or the full scope of his decisions.
While all of the other Old Gods exude strong, distinctive personalities and have varying flaws, Zavan does not show deficiencies or weaknesses in his mythology, instead being the model god-king. Although he is one of the most worshipped of the gods, he is also seen as one of the least personable, almost impossible to relate to.
Zavan first came into being after the goddess Ava was forced to join with the devil Sifr, her hated enemy, in order to call into being another deity to join her. Their combined efforts allowed a new god to awaken.
It is a much debated paradox within religion, as to how the flawless God of Gods could also consist partly of the devil Sifr. One of the most commonly accepted beliefs on this is that Zavan thus represents the perfect balance between good and evil, which cannot be found anywhere else in the universe.
Zavan then created the Deific Plane, the otherworldly dimension the gods. From that plane, the combined power of Ava and Zavan allowed for the growth of the universe.
Sifr had assumed that his efforts to awaken the god-king would guarantee him favor and a place in the Deifics. However, at the urging of Ava, Zavan instead forbid him from entering, and forever banished him from setting foot there.
Sifr, in revenge, vowed to forever sow chaos and destruction upon the universe that the god and goddess had grown.
Though Ava has held a deep hatred for Sifr ever since, Zavan - incapable of hate - simply accepted this, and in turn committed to fighting him, though only "when it was right."
Zavan has always been the undisputed ruler of the Deific Plane. He never leaves it, and many believe that he cannot, as that dimension could not exist without him. Despite coaxing the universe into being and breathing life into it, Zavan has never actually been able to visit it.
