Preservation Guild Complex Building / Landmark in Talitha Harbor | World Anvil

Preservation Guild Complex

The Preservation Guild Complex is a building that resides in each of The Great Cities. However, it doesn't have the exact same setup and appearance in each City. They do, however serve the same purpose.   Basic Setup/Purpose   Each complex has a separate work area for the different branches of the Vocation of Preservation. The Tier II Ecologists tend to work equally in the Science Hall and the Ecology Hall. Depending on where they end up spending most of their time might influence where they consider their main work area. There is no universal expectation one way or the other.   The complex also has a small barracks which can be an optional living quarter for the main personnel. If the rooms are not completely taken, they can also offer a temporary overnight bed for those who want to work odd or extra hours. The barracks are not large and most Preservation personnel will live outside of the Complex.

Ecology Hall

The ecologists are the boots on the ground personnel for the Preservation Guild. They visit, take readings and samples, and return with their findings. Their hall consists mostly of desks and lounge areas. They use their Identity Pads for information gathering instead of pen and paper. With the amount of data that they collect, it's far less wasteful to record the information digitally. They are generally not very exciting, simply functional. Since most ecologists spend more time outside of the office than they do inside, no unnecessary luxuries are included.   Science Hall   The science hall houses all of the stored samples and laboratories for the Great City with which they reside. The Science Hall for the City of Anunitum is by far the largest. It also has a small visitor's area which showcases some of the original, but no longer functional, equipment that the first Talithan's brought with them.   Glass is a rare commodity in Talitha due to the ecological cost of manufacturing. The Science Hall is one of the few places where one can find it used on a more regular basis. It is treated with care and if anything breaks then it is carefully cleaned and sent for recycling. Other than equipment, it is also used for animal and plant enclosures. They also have some small replica biomes that allow them to study some long term interaction between the native fauna and imported small Earth creatures.   The Science Halls are also one of the few places that have access to a computer terminal instead of just Identity Pad screens. They are tapped into the Mainframe and can easily share information with the other cities. Due to this information share, the Science Halls in Pangu and Simmah are smaller.   Instead of recreating everything they simply look at environmental differences that relate to their lands and biomes. Anunitum also takes care of all of the islands that are within it's reach while the other two cities only care for the islands that are easier for them to get to. The new city Candamius is likely to end up with a science hall that is close to Anunitum's in size. They have a greater diversity in their biome and will be a center for new research due to this.

Preservation Hall

The Preservation Hall is the front face of the Preservation Guild. Talithan's with complaints bring them here. Anyone with a question also brings it here. As bland as the Ecology Hall is, the Preservation Hall is smart and impressive. It is not decorated to the point of excess. That would be a bit hypocritical. But, it is not empty or dreary either.   Along with showing the Talithan's that they take their position seriously, the nicer building is also a good recruitment tool for younger kids trying to decide what Schoolhouse they want to attend.   The Different Cities   City of Anunitum: The Complex is a series of three large triangles, which are also in a triangle formation. When it was originally built the founders were still trying to decide exactly how they wanted everything setup and what sort of space everyone would need. They ended up going with equal size buildings for all three Halls. However, the Ecologists don't need the same amount of space as the other two branches. Their extra space has been made into meeting rooms and houses some overflow from the other two halls.   City of Pangu: Pangu has, for now, the second largest Complex. It was built to be a good middle ground between the large Anunitum Complex and the smaller Simmah complex. It is a simple row of buildings, however. The barracks are a separate building, unlike the other two which have them integrated in. They are not pretty externally, but they are very functional and serve their purpose without excessive wasted space.   City of Simmah Since Simmah is not too far or different from Anunitum their complex was built to be an arm of the Anunitum complex. They only have a few sleeping rooms which are used by visiting Eco Scientists from Anunitum. The two cities work closely together to compare notes and make sure everything is as it should be.
