Dvorak

The Dvorak Class is a series of large ship powered by solar sail and laser ablative deflector. The ship itself is a large cylindrical mass of cargo bay, hauling tank and pressurized spherical fuel tank tied to a central hexagonal tube. The front of the ship has a large crew compartiment and bridge with huge windows. Just behind the cabin six long hexagrid struture extend radially. In between eache arm is a large triangular solar sail made of gold foil.
While inherently slow, powerful laser can be beam toward part of the ship to speed it up both from radiative pressure and from ablation.

By design this is not a ship made for human cargo, a trip from mars to Jupiter usually taking about a year and half but it is the only true viable option for large cargo volume and importing mineral from the belt. While the modular nature of the ship make it more a convoy than a defined ship most Dvorak class are armed with sail and engine for hauling volumes in the million of cubic meters and weight in excess of 2 million metric tons. This make it the vital life line of both the belt and the inner planets. Each Jumpers arrival is subject to fesivities.

To this day sixteen Dvorak Class as been assembled and two more are being built, one on earth proxima bay and one in Titanica Mare.

The Dvorak

The first of the Dvorak class we built to haul water and air to mars and all the initial tech needed to construct the domes. When the Great Betrayal happened the Dvorak was in between earth and mars with a large quantity of air and water on board. Earth immediatly tried to reroute it toward earth but the martian commander and crew quickly realize the magnitude of the on-going genocide so they decided to rally mars as fast as possible. This was obviously not to the taste of the terran military onboard and the ensuing vessel warfare was as messy and brutal as one could imagine.
Not much is known about it except for the result, in a last ditch effort to save their martian brother, the crew opened the stern cargo door, depressuring explosively the whole ship thus killing everyone on board. The ship barrelled toward mars on all availlable engine and proceed to violently re-enterer the martian atmosphere. While Dvorak are obviously not made for entering atmospheric zone they have an automated ejection system to drop the cargo and preserve it in case of crash. A fact that the martian knew full well.

The various crate, tank and large container dropped by the Dvorak during its long decent as proven a life line for early days of the martian reconstruction and to this day some of the cargo is still non accounted for and hunted relentlessly. The Dvorak itself crashed on the slope of Olympus Mons and have stay there ever since.
Martian view it as a living testimony of martian sacrifice, earth betrayal and power of the small people to save their kind.
