Antargarian

Antargarians are another of the Thanagarian ethnicities. While it may seem tough to imagine, the Antargarians are even more recluse than the isolationist Kolamarian thanagarians. But they have a good reason for that as the Antargarians live in the deepest part of the Shadow Lands of Antarctica.

There, within the mysterious natural 'shadow ecology' biodome that represents evolution along a different scale and track, these Thanagarian refugees remained safe and hidden from any off-world threat. Generation after generation passed allowing these thanagarians learned to integrate with the 'shadow' ecosystem here. Now, they remain content to stay in the unique biodome away from any off-world threats.

However, the same can't be said for any Earthbound threats.

The Shadow Lands currently is also home to the infamous Dr. Teleios who maintains a large research facility there. Of late, SAFEGUARD has also established a research base there as well.

Technological Level

Unlike their Thanagarian ancestors, the Antargarians have adopted a low-tech lifestyle. However, while they use archaic weapons such as bows and arrows, maces and more, they cannot be called primitive. They have an advanced knowledge of herbal medicine that rivals modern medicine of the outside world.

As they share the Shadow Lands with the nefarious scientist, Dr. Teleios, the Antargarians do have some knowledge of technology. Primarily the highly advanced technology created by Dr. Teleios himself. This has resulted in what can be best described as a 'post-apocalyptic' mix of archaic and super-scientific tools in their everyday life. Beyond the tools, they retain their primitive life and dress, preferring this simpler life over one more complex.

Family names

Culture

Common Dress code

The climate of the Shadow Lands, despite being under the Antarctica ice, is tropical due to the mysterious and ancient biodome that preserves the region. Antagarians wear loose clothing, often with no sleeves, to help keep cool. For example, a 'shirt' is more like a drape that wraps around to tie at the waist to form a vest.

Historical figures

Antagarians tell stories of the hero of Thanagar, Captain Fel Kur'Talak, the warrior who became a great philosopher. They have few artifacts from the original immigration as the Shadow Lands under Antarctica can be an unforgiving environment!

What they do have are holographic recordings of his speeches and talks he gave to inspire students on Thanagar. Explaining the importance of focus, self-discipline and above all the need for balance. These talks form much of the basis of the Antagarians' philosophies.
