Obsessive healer
Iyashi, one of
Amaterasu's daughters, was a natural-born healer from the moment she was born. In her younger days, she was often found working on people who had been hurt during hunting or discovering new treatments for infections or diseases. She was so obsessed with healing magic and tending to those in need, she tried to find newer and better ways to protect others at every opportunity she could find.
She ended up being best friends with
Madela and took to her for most, if not all, of her findings. She encouraged her curious behavior while her mother would handle the duties she needed to. Some records say they would even hold hands on occasion and get lost in talking to one another.
Madela helped her create both the anti-fungal and madness curatives that are still being used to this day. The most prestigious of medical professionals use a book called '
The Art of Staying Alive', which is her collection of recipes for curatives both simple and advanced.
One day she ventured into Sanitatum and tried to take a piece of
The River of Life for her studies, but this ended in her demise. Upon reaching into the river, Iyashi fell into it and couldn't get herself back, effectively recycling herself while she was still alive. Madela was with her when this happened and tried to save her but when Madela came into contact with the River of Life, Iyashi’s spirit ended up embodying her in a unique way and thus made her the first of
Pure Healers. By some individuals this was called ‘
Jinsei no Shimei’ or ‘Proof of Life’, as the existence of a Pure Healer means that Iyashi is alive in some way and still doing good. Madela does pass on this gift to certain individuals, but it's quite rare that she does. If someone ends up with the Pure Healer ability then they're seen as great prospects in Madela's eyes.
