Amaterasu Character in Tales of Arbitrium | World Anvil

Amaterasu

Amaterasu, the Goddess of the Sun, is one of the twins that split from Izinami. Before she was Amaterasu and was Izanami, she was relentless and observant. However, she is now known to be benevolent and cherishes the living, although she is also quick to smite.
She spent most of her early years in what eventually became Anzen, alongside Tsukuyomi. During this time she kept who she deemed 'her people' warm and safe as much as she could, teaching them the importance of the sun and taking care of plants. Agriculture was something she fancied although she wasn't especially that good at it- in time, it was her own people that taught her how to do most of the gardening she knows. It was during this time she became rather close to those that evolved into Neko's and ended up developing a variation that has powerful magic. She is the creator of the Kitsune, which do not manifest among the Neko's naturally in their genetics, they become Kitsune when they have magical capabilities.
She became quite involved when the New Gods came into existence, being one of the few that first approached them peacefully. Amaterasu was the one who encouraged Allura to take Aphamet's role as God of Balance. She was also the first to try and help Aphamet collect himself but it was unsuccessful. After that, she took care of who she could and started to develop quite a many champions.
When it comes to champs, she typically empowers them as much as she can, then sends them out to enforce her will. While other gods use this as a way to spread their religion, she uses this as a way to avenge those that are done terribly wrong. Knowing that Allura's hands are tied and her fellow Elder Gods only act in certain situations, she knew she had to have her own small force. Known sometimes as The ファイアストーム (Faia-sutomu), on their own her champions are powerful forces of fire while in groups they're increasingly dangerous. Even with a terrible title like that, Her intention is to spread light and protect those kept in the dark. If they have been abandoned in the dark, then she will provide them light.

She had a few children with two men in her lifetime, only one of them men was documented while the other was not. Of the children she had, the two most known are Iyashi and Yurei.
