Unrisen

(a.k.a. Voice of the Void, Wraith, Unrisen Watcher, King Yvus of Bharda, Lewis)

King Yvus was ruler of the mountain-side kingdom Bharda who took up the first mantle of Agent of Transition during the Collapse. Upon his death, he was exiled to the Endless Void. It was in that timeless, formless place that King Yvus's endless regret transformed him into the Unrisen.   King Yvus was affectionately known as Lewis to the Pale Maden, his lover for many years before and during the Collapse. The two reunited after the Unrisen Returned to the mortal world to bring warning of the Ancients. A fight with the ancient Fame left him in the service of the Transition once again. His fear that this round would end no different from the last kept him sullen and distant; a mood the Maiden was eager to break.   The Unrisen was the original bearer of Last Light, a pair of bone-hilted daggers and the only artifact created by Tansition. He possessed the daggers until he was exiled to the Endless Void. They were then possessed by subsquent Agnest of Transition, returing to Unrisen when he again took on the Agent mantle.   These daggers were both powerful and cursed. Upon drawing them from their linen-wrapped scabbards, a single touch of the blade caused instant death for all but a god. However, the blades can only be drawn once. For every second they are in hand, the wielder is compelled to use them to end their own existence. This curse was meant as a safeguard against the power's abuse and the wielder's freedom.   During the Battle of the Glass Palace, as the Ancient Terror was attempting to possess the Pale Maiden, Unrisen saw no other option but to draw Last Light. A weapon of such power drew Terror's attention to their ultimate doom. Possessing Unrisen's body, even the Ancient could not resist Transition's curse.   This selfless act banished Terror to the Endless Void, where Unrisin would soon follow. Except, the Maiden would not have it. Unrisin, King Yvus, believed in her. He might not have believed in anything else, but he believed in her; always had. Drawing on the power of her domain, her love, and thousands of years of regret, she forced Transition into submission.   Unrisen no longer, King Yvus has earned an afterlife with his moon queen in her Glass Palace. His mantle of Agent of Transition and the curse of Last Light falls pass on, once agian, to a new champion.   More about the Unrisin and the Pale Maden can be found in the article: Maiden and the Wraith
