Devolurian Pantheon

Devolurit is a country in steeped in faith and religious traditions. For as long as people in Talav Mor have been alive to remember, the King of Devolurit has been chosen from the Royal line and agreed upon by the church leaders following what is occasionally a month or more (though usually only a few days to a week) of meditation. During this time, they are bound by a vow of silence and visited only by a select few – young temple maids of the priestess of Braeselus. These maids bring them plain food and drink and ensure that their censers are still full and burning enough to keep their rooms filled with the smell of incense thought to help with their connection to the gods. They are denied all other creature comforts during this time, even so much as a comforting handshake can be seen as an insult upon the gods.   By the time their meditation is over, determined by when the priest in question has settled upon a certainty in who the new Emperor should be, they emerge from their meditation, are taken through a ritual bathing process by members of their church, and are then sequestered away in their normal chambers. They wait there until the other churches all send word that decisions have been made. Following this, the archpriests meet in a private consulate with one another where each presents the verdict rendered by their meditations and a vote is taken.   The name with the most votes is tapped to be next ruler of Devolurit, acting as the living avatar of his patron god. Frequently, the god in question is the patron god of the year or age in question.
