Munsia
Given life by Vigta, Munsia is goddess of the moon and journeys. She was created to light the way for souls passing through the darkness to find Vigta’s halls, and her stars guide travelers on their way to their destinations. She was gifted to Artio as a wife by her creator father, but she already loved Praeleg, god of the seas and caller of the weather. Artio’s jealousy fueled a malicious streak within him and he reasoned that if he could not have all of Munsia, no one would ever touch her again. He tricked Munsia, a shining woman who could walk on the ground, to take to the heavens and fly through the air, to better be a beacon to those who needed her light and guidance. She found herself trapped within the embrace of the inky black of the night sky.
Munsia’s temples are found in port towns and cities, in towns and villages rich with trade. Her altars are along every roadway and at the feet of the statues guarding the entrances to the empire. Offerings to Munsia are frequently night-blooming flowers, and coins of silver and platinum.
Clergy to Munsia are men and women clad in white robes lined in silver, a crescent moon pendant hanging from a silver chain around their necks. They are tattooed with their patron god’s primary constellation, along with others representing their oaths and deeds in her name.
Munsia is portrayed both as a crescent moon surrounded by stars in some depictions, and a tall, slender woman with floor-length hair worn in a loose waterfall. She wears a long traveling cloak with an oversized hood worn high enough on her head to show a sublime, peaceful face with a soft smile on its lips. One hand holds a crescent moon.
