Vigta

The fire which gives life and cleanses away impurities is Vigta, a being wreathed in flame yet never burnt. Vigta is portrayed both as male and female, the destructive power traditionally believed more potent in men, and the life-giving power inherent in all women. Both forms are portrayed in Vigta’s temples, though outside of them, the form which best suits Vigta’s statues are crafted from specialized, polished black stone imported from the Dwarven kingdoms and immediately set alight, their towering form casting light in all directions. Regardless of which form the statues and images take – male or female – Vigta is always portrayed carrying a spear in one hand and an orb surrounded in flame in the other.   Vigta’s clergy wear black robes trimmed in red, orange, and gold, with the symbol of Vigta, a spear with flames licking up and around it. Vigta’s clergy are frequently among the members of the Devolian army, frequently as officers, and the rare few with magic are valued highly for what they bring to their unit.   The church of Vigta is known for delivering firewood to the poor in cold months, as well as always having open doors to welcome those in need of a place by a warm hearth. The offerings made to Vigta vary, though they must all be burned.
