The raids of Razorcrest

His highness Lord Sandistan adressing his royal highness King Felipe III

Eleventh day of third week of Semortine, in the year 497 AR, Thairono

Oh great Lord of Tennet, protector of the realm, holder of the faith,

This missive is sent in a time of great trouble. In recent months, problems with orc tribes living beyond our borders have been escalating and we are reaching a point where something must be done, despite the doctrine of our fathers.

Disagreements with local orcs

The problem started some years back already and back then it was trivial enough that it did not trouble me so no reason was found to send note to the capital either. As I have learned in the years since, a rumor started spreading of orcs trespassing on farms near the border and accusations of theft and worse were quickly raised. I can not beyond any doubt confirm these accusations at this point, no matter how much I believe them.

Retaliation from settlements

In any case, the farmers despite being discouraged to do so, began organising local watches which began patrolling farmlands. I have reports that reached our city of at least six separate incidents in which the patrols found orcs to be trespassing. In one case the orc was released after a beating but in the others the orc in question was sentenced to more permanent punishments, death by garotte in all but one and servitude in perpetuity in one case.

Raids and Casualties

Unfortunately this has recently begun to result in increasing hostilities by the orcs. In the beginning they would simply enter our realm, plunder a farmstead and leave again. But recently they have become more aggressive. One instance of a settlers watch encountered a small orcish warband and they were swiftly defeated by the intruders. Less than half survived when the orcs broke their morale.   With this sudden influx of deaths, the settlers calls for help from Thairono are becoming louder and almost daily new partitioners arrive at court.

Request for support

I humbly seek the support of crown and realm in this matter. I fear that our own knights do not have the numbers to clear up the situation. I am aware of the doctrine that we are not to probe too deeply into the mountains to not provoke the orcs, but I believe that without a strong show of power, we will not be able to reclaim the safety of our borders.   Faithfully and eternally,

Lord Estel Sandevistan of Thairono

Another Prompt (no. 6) done! What do you think of the format? How could I improve the format to better reflect that this is a letter?

Again a very nice idea to describe the plight of a subject in a letter. How about note paper with a coat of arms of the lord as a background image? This is relatively easy to tinker with CSS in the container.

Good idea. And no letter delivered by a battered and bruised messenger who just escaped with his life is complete without added bloodstains that seeped through the envelope :-)

Yes, that would make it even more authentic ;-).

That is an excellent suggestion! Unfortunately I am so inexperienced with css, that I dont even know where I can start learning how to do what you described. Can you recommend a resource with which I can learn about it?

Yours truly, Nino.

W3 schools is an excellent site for learning about a number of different web based technologies including CSS.   https://www.w3schools.com/Css/   In terms of specifically how to use CSS in conjunction with World Anvil, there are some good pages you can find by searching for CSS in the WA help. There is also an area of the WA discord server specifically dedicated to CSS help and I've found that a very useful place to ask questions when I couldn't get something to work the way I was expecting it to (or the WA documentation ran out). CSS might seem a bit daunting at first and I admit that I don't understand all the ins and outs of it myself but its a very powerful way of customising your site and once you get the basic ideas you can build on them as and when you want to do new things. You don't have to know all of it before you can start playing with it, and it is fun to experiment with once you understand the basics.
