Dragonheart Staff

Among the people of the kingdom of Athenor, the Dragonheart Staff is considered one of their most sacred treasures. Forged by the Dragon Llerandar and the human mage Alwin Greseth, this staff gave its wielder the arcane might of the dragons, turning any mage worthy enough to carry it into a force to be reckoned with.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Since Llerandar used a piece of his crystalline heart to craft the staff, it possesses the draconic ability to draw on large amounts of Aether for use in any spells cast through it. This shard also contained the magical knowledge stored within Llerandars crystal heart (a common yet bizarre trait among ancient dragons), and this knowledge is what forms the basis of the Dragon Magic this staff commands. The magic of this staff allows for such feats as casting powerful elemental spells, inspiring awe/terror in others, and controlling draconic energy.
Additionally, due to the use of a draconic crystal heart as a key component in the staffs creation, many believe that the staff has some level of sentience. This belief is supported by the fact that while anyone can use the staff, only those who claim to have been deemed worthy by the staff can access its full power.

The Dragonheart Staff is considered a sacred artifact in the kingdom of Athenor, with only the most powerful, respected, and experienced Dragon Callers being considered worthy of wielding it.

Raw materials & Components

The Dragonheart Staff is constructed from a wooden rod, engraved with decorative details inspired by dragons, most notably the image of a long serpentine body coiling around the staff from the bottom all the way to the tip, which is carved to resemble the head of the dragon Llerandar. Fixed between the jaws of the carved dragon head is the shard of Llerandars crystal heart, which serves as the primary focus of any spells cast through the staff.
