Draconic Magic

Draconic Magic (otherwise known as Dracomancy) is considered to be one of the oldest forms of magic in Taeva, with many scholars considering it to be the origin of many of the schools of magic known in the current age. Created and introduced into the world by the Dragons of Taevas ancient history, Dracomancy spells focus on empowering elemental magics, enhancing the presence of the caster, communicating with Dragons and their distant relatives, and granting aspects of the Dragons to the caster. Despite it's rarity, as well as the high level of skill needed to cast spells related to it, Dracomancy remains a subject of great interest to those studying the history of magic.

Effect

Elemental Empowerment
One of the most common spells belonging to Dracomancy, allowing the caster to cast elemental magics with more potent effects than their unenhanced counterparts. While these empowered spells can be cast through traditional means (hands and/or focuses), Dracomancers also gain the ability to cast them as a breath weapon, a particularly useful trait if the casters hands are otherwise occupied.

Draconic Presence
It's well known that Dragons have a far more powerful presence compared to other mortal races. Through this spell, the caster can give themselves a portion of this presence, allowing them to more easily charm, inspire, or terrify others. While usually only focused on a single target, particularly skilled Dracomancers can extend this effect to a radius around them, and some masters are even able to use this spell to make themselves and their allies more resistant to magics that would charm or frighten them.

Draconic Aspect
As the name would imply, these spells allow the caster to take on various physical Draconic aspects, each with their own benefits. When invoked, these aspects appear as a spectral aura around the casters body, and include claws (physical attacks), scales (added protection), and wings (flight). Some stories claim that those who make frequent, extended use of these spells can cause the caster to physically become more dragon-like, though this is largely unproven.

Command Dragonkin
While largely considered to be no better than animals, creatures like Wyverns, Wyrms, and Drakes are all said to be descended from Dragons. Thanks to this connection, as well as the massive gap in magical prowess between them, Dragons are capable of exerting control over these "lesser" dragonkin, an ability that's shared by those capable of using Dracomancy. While there are no recorded instances of this occouring, it's believed that this effect might also apply to intelligent races that are descended from the Dragons, such as the Drakai and Kobolds.

Dragonsight
Thanks to their innate connection to magic, Dragons have adapted their senses to perceive it. Using this spell, Dracomancers can see the Aether in other beings, see things/beings that would otherwise be invisible, and, in the case of the most skilled masters, see "echoes" of past events.

Aetheric Manipulation
As Taevas first mages, Dragons possess a unique skill in manipulating Aether. For Dracomancers, this manifests as spells that allow them to fire raw Aether, create defensive barriers from Aether, and even disrupt the Aether of others in a certain radius.

Side/Secondary Effects

Enhanced Elemental Resistance
Aside from possessing more powerful elemental magics, Dracomancers are also more resistant to such magics. If the caster focuses more of their Aether into this ability, they can temporarily become immune to an element of their choosing, though they can only do this with one element at a time.

Dragonspeech
Regarded as one of the stranger aspects of Draconic magic, those attuned with it claim to be able to understand (and sometimes even speak) the Draconic language. While it's not known for certain how this is possible, it's currently believed to be tied to how Dragons supposedly pass on knowledge to their young.

Manifestation

Those who were able to use Draconic magic describe feeling a warmth and rush of energy throughout their body when casting Draconic spells. Additionally, whether there were any verbal components or not, casting a Draconic spell may sometimes be accompanied by a loud roaring sound, and the Aether used by Draconic magic has a flame-like appearance, regardless of what element the caster is using.

Source

Draconic spells draw their power from the Draconic Aether, which can be found in Dragons, those who were exposed to enough Draconic Aether to become attuned to it, or magic objects created by/from Dragons.
Material Components
Draconic Aether is the only material required to cast Dracomancy spells, either drawn from the caster themselves, or from a focus crafted from Drakonite.
Applied Restriction
Draconic magic can only be used by those who are attuned to Draconic Aether, mainly the Dragons that created it. The only way a non-Dragon can use Draconic magic is if they were exposed to enough Draconic Aether to become attuned to it, or, more commonly, if they possessed a magic focus made predominantly from Drakonite.
