Deepwarren
Located beneath central Imera, Deepwarren is the capital of the Ratfolk Ratfolk people. Thanks to its large population, as well as its trade connections with the other settlements of the Dark Hollows, as well as a few surface settlements, Deepwarren is also one of the largest cities within the Dark Hollows. As a centre of trade within the Dark Hollows, Deepwarren has drawn in people from many different walks of life over the ages, both Underdwellers and surface folk alike.
Demographics
The population of Deepwarren predominantly consists of Ratfolk, though Goblins and Kobolds are often see within the city as well. Among the cities occupants, the most common occupations are scholars, merchants, and engineers.
Government
Deepwarren is directly ruled over by the High Overseer and their advisors. All taxes gathered within the city are put towards maintaining its buildings and infrastructure, with the excess being stored in the treasury.
Defences
The city is surrounded by tall rock formations, with walls spanning the gaps between them. There are also a number of lookout towers further out in the cavern, to provide advanced warning of any incoming threats. In the event that the city is breached, the defenders will use blockade the larger streets, forcing the enemy to either attack directly or take the smaller roads around, and will attack from the alleys and elevated positions.
Industry & Trade
The city of Deepwarren trades extensively with the other settlements of the Dark Hollows, as well as a few surface settlements.
Infrastructure
Deepwarren has a well-maintained network of roads running through the city and connecting it to the other settlements of the Ratfolk Warrens, as well as numerous lifts within the taller structures of the city. Additionally, there are a number of workshops and markets throughout the city.
Assets
Deepwarren serves as the seat of power for the High Overseer, and is connected to a number of other settlements in the Dark Hollows, as well as a few surface settlements.
Architecture
The architecture of Deepwarren is mainly constructed from wood and stone, with some metal. There's a great deal of verticality among most of the cities buildings (particularly the major buildings), with many bridges connecting them further up, and many of the cities buildings are built close together.
Geography
The city of Deepwarren is built in the centre of a large cavern, with rock formations scattered throughout and an underground river running through close to the city.
Natural Resources
There's a large area dedicated to farming underground vegetation, and plenty of stone can be mined from the surroundings.
