Week 1: Pledge Your Goal
Area of Focus:
While Tacoma by Night so far has been all about Vampires, I've recently started to lay down the groundwork for the Mages as well. So, I do want to focus on finishing up the base organizational building blocks for those two groups, HOWEVER there are other key parts of the setting to get into as well. So, in no particular order, what i'll be working on come December is:
- Unfinished City Articles
- Vampire Clans
- Mage Organizations
- Key locations and landmarks
- Individual characters
Update your Meta:
I first wrote my Meta when this was a referrential world for a game I ran, now that I'm in the groove of writing more on my own, I'll have to expand and change it to accomodate a narrative idea as well!
Week 2: Prepare for New Readers
As far as the homepage goes, I feel pretty confident in it's apperance and succintness. I will give the idea of a world primer a shot, and see how that works out for me! For community tools, I do need to update my work around images to the actual manuscript blocks since I know those now exist, and unfortunatley I am not a CSS wizard, but I like the template as it is, even if other people might find it a bit bland!
Week 3: Inspiration
This one was a fun excersize to do! I don't have any specific books or shows that give inspiration for the series, aside from the sourcebooks for the various World of Darkness properties, but in terms of conveying vibes via images and music, I have plenty! I'll keep this homeworks contribution tame, but there's much more I could give! I'll add in my moodboard below and the playlist to the right of the page!
Week 4: Community & Self
I have found it admittedly difficult to get fully ingrained into the Worldanvil community, as large discords overwhelm me easily and I work during many of the streams, but throughout these events over the years I've amassed a consistent group of followers, whose notifications and updates always delight me whenever I make a new article or journal post!
As far as social media goes, I'm most active on Bluesky! I mean to start updating more on my Instagram as well, both of which you can find through my
Linktree! If I do follow through on my idea of making videos for Youtube and/or Tiktok i'll be sure to add those!
I was thankfully able to finish the idea of getting outside for some fresh air yesterday as I had an entire day to parouse around Seattle, some photos of which ended up on my Bluesky if ya wanna see them~! I love the city, good and bad alike, and I hope living there is in my future. The city life, the queer community, the sheer activism and activity of it all, as well as the vast history and natural beauty. It was all just so wonderful, and I even got to stop into a working cafe to get some writing done, and finished the latest chapter of my Manuscript!
In just two hours I was able to finish a chapter, and so for my writing schedule I want to get at least two hours or so done each day! If i'm working late, I want to try and do it in the morning. If I work in the morning, I wanna try in the evening. And if I'm working all day (which given I work at a toy store during december, might be the case) then I'm going to eke out that collective time wherever I can. At the very least, I am confident in my ability to get to 10k, but I'd really love to get done with at least 20k!
As we're only three days away from the challenge beginning, I am pumped to get into it, and I'm excited to see everyone's contributions! Happy worldbuilding everybody!
Good luck reaching your goal! I hope you have a lot of fun this WorldEmber! :D
Thank you! It might be tough with work, but I'll give it my best shot! I hope you got a fun month coming up too!
