Fiery Frost Mountain
The Fiery Frost Mountain is right between the two subspecies of lupian, the Heatwave and the Frostbite. The two subspecies do not hate each other, but many of them agree on both sides that they are lucky to have this range between them. To avenge any perceived or real insult, they must take a long detour, and during that track, they almost always calm down. The other path would be to go through the mountain directly, but that will cost more lives because of the dangerous terrain and the more dangerous hybrids that live there.
The mountain rose during the cataclysm. While other mountains rose during the Rending, most of them are normal ones. The Fiery Frost Mountain is an exception. Here you can have lava flows that turn to glaciers in a minute, ice lakes that melt under your feet in a second and becomes lava pit, or volcanos that spit ice into the air, which comes down as burning droplets of boiling water. The current theory is that the battle between Absence and Abundance caused a tear in the fabric of reality. For a brief period, through the Forefathers of the lupian, the continent of Tacillia connected with the plain of fire and the plain of ice. That connection made the mountain unique, and the energies from those plains still linger here hundreds of years after the cataclysm.
But these natural dangers are nothing compared to the hybrids in the mountains. The two subspecies usually find mates among the tribes of their own. But from time-to-time Heatwave and Frostbite lupians mate with each other too. And if they are unlucky, a hybrid is born with the abilities of both subspecies, making it highly dangerous and aggressive. Because of their unique nature, they can easily live in the conditions of the mountain.
