Degradation

The origin of the Degradation

Like many adverse effects, such as the Curse, this one is credited to Absence, too. Although the Saviors Gods closed Tacillia from Absence, his power was felt by everybody and everything for far too long and affected every living being on Tacillia. For centuries, even the lingering effects of Absence were felt by many. Some scholars suggest that Abundance may have played a role in this, too, but there isn't any evidence of it.

The effects of the Degradation

The word degradation is a terrible name by itself, but it is also incorrect. It is better to call it time degradation, or by its official name, as scholars call it, time fluctuation, or by its shorter name, time flux. It affected everything differently. Some positively and some negatively. The Degradation affected those the worst, who were called, Then, the fair folk, humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, etc. They devolved generation by generation, and nowadays, they are closer to savages than the sophisticated, intelligent beings they were in the past. For some, the changes were minimal, and the Degradation created countless new flora, fauna, and intelligent species, like the skat'ra, the lupian, the valturo, and the calamor.

Social effects of the Degradation

The worst outcome was for the fair folk. They lost their kingdoms and their livelihood, and many of them lost their lives too. Those who survived moved to the newly discovered continent, Muaclun, but even there, they had to occupy the worst part. The monster species and the sentient, new species filled the empty hole they left behind. They carved out places for themselves and established new areas of influence. Life moved forward. It was just without the former masters of Tacillia.

The cure for the Degradation

There is no known remedy against the Degradation. Either you are lucky to escape its effects, or you are doomed from birth. Folk tales mention the fruit of Abundance that can stop the impact of Degradation, but there isn't any scientific evidence of this.
We were oppressed for long enough. Now it is our turn to rule
— Neged the Boar, king of the Dominion
