Eastleigh
Government
Mayor/Council Form of Local Government
History
Located on the confluence of Emberry Run River and the Chesapeake Bay. It was named after a small village on the old Roman Road between Winchester and Bitterne in what is now Hampshire. Largely settled by Anglicans in an attempt to weaken the Catholic Majority. A fairly minor city for most of it's history it has grown to be around 20 square miles. The city is bisected by the Emberry Run River, which attracts many barges for up the river trade.
During the Civil War Eastleigh was neither north or south. What is said to happen was about half of who fought marched north, and the other half marched south. This is reflected in the two city high schools, using the colors blue and gray.
