Unamakhalu Character in Ta Mando ~~ The World Of Kanda | World Anvil

Unamakhalu

True Hero Unamakhalu Intubakhalad Ternadir (a.k.a. The Great Mother Of Soterri, Una, Unama, The War Lola,)

In the world of Ta Mando the gods are manifest things!
They exist physically and may be interacted with.   You may have tea with them, you may give them physical offerings which they might accept and their wrath can be made real against you or your loved ones.
They often play games with mortals, have competitions with each other and push special humans to their limits to see how they will adapt and what they will do... and to gain power for their own divine spheres!
Unamakhalu is a perfect example of what happens when gods eventually push extraordinary humans past the limits of their patience.   There is only so far that an individual can tolerate the abuse of the divine before turning on it.

Holy Books & Codes

While she has not yet properly begun, Unamakhalu is alleged to be starting a complete text publicizing the long lost history of the Kobori Culture's distant past; knowledge she learned after consuming Intubakhalu's blood.
While she knows her "Father" would rather it stay secret (mostly because of his own actions in history) Unamakhalu has resigned to destroying the poisonous culture that he created and immortalizing the lessons and traditions that came before while airing all of her people's flaws and crimes; all which he worked so hard to veil.   While it is not yet determined what this book will be called or how she will distribute it, it is certain to be regarded as some sort of holy text by those who follow her and to all remaining Kobori People.

Holidays

Preserving 25 will invariably come to be The Holiday Of Her Ascendance.
Both her birthday and the day she stole power from The Mountain God, "The Day Of The Great Mother" is a day wherein her worshippers and members of The Cult Of Jon revere intelligence, cunning, resourcefulness and chosen family bonds.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

So far it's difficult to pin down exactly what Unamakhalu's long term goals are other than overthrowing the general status quo of both mortals and deities.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Very large for her age, Unamakhalu is a stunningly fit and strikingly mature looking young woman of 13 with very dark, flawless skin and relatively standard physical traits for a coastal Kobori; regularly wearing the hyper-fine, thin dreadlocks dyed with red ochre that her people find to be the highest in prestige and beauty.
While perhaps not fully built, she has clearly defined lean musculature and next to no body fat surrounding an incredibly dense skeletal frame and extremely well developed callous on her feet, hands and other important strike zones of the body.   Regularly moving with a sort of "lazy agility;" Unamakhalu is able to spring to action quickly, perform extreme feats of flexibility on command, climb, swim, jump, run and even seemingly disappear into the sand around her easily and at a moment's notice despite her otherwise normally relaxed physical demeanor.

Body Features

Like many in her ethnic group, Unamakhalu is a tall individual with heavy bones and a frame that borders on "long," though she happens to be a particularly broad specimen of her kin; having very wide shoulders, hips and chestĀ that give her a more solid looking physique than most and otherwise embodying her childhood name of "Big Girl."   Though she formerly had many small scars from numerous cuts and mishaps as an orphan, the blood of The Mountain God has restored her skin to flawless, near perfectly soil colored flesh that has a healthy sheen to it not usually seen in most of the other Kobori.
Muscled much like an adult of her kind, Unamakhalu has a much denser anatomy than most mortals; weighing considerably more than individuals her age or even fully grown adult Kobori women!
Because of her connection to The Mountain God and her powers of Earth she continues to grow in mass whilst also not physically gaining the appearance of weight; her body slowly growing more anatomically dense by the day as she continues to benefit from the good eating of Kandia Society!

Identifying Characteristics

Two things stand out about Unamakhalu over anything else!   First and foremost; Una is big for her age. Her child literally translated to "Big Girl."
For whatever reason, despite the difficult upbringing, Unamakhalu grew extremely tall and broad even for her own people and, even just at thirteen years old, often finds herself dwarfing Kandia Women; already taller than the average by several inches.
Still growing, it is expected that she'll be very tall when fully grown!   Perhaps more important at a glance in a crowd, Unamakhalu wears the cultural dreadlocks of her people at all times; fine, thin, extremely tightly woven locks dyed striking red with Ochre.
Nearly belly-button length, Unamakhalu is easily identified by this long, regal, deep red hair.

Special abilities

Because of her consumption of The Mountain God's blood, Unama has gained the power to shape Earth to her will!
Not only is she capable but quite domineering with her Earth Bending powers, having consumed far more of The Blood than any other servant of The Mountain God.
Moreover, Unama spends considerable hours every day training to gain both precision and capacity in her abilities, utilizing Earth Bending in every day, mundane activities or even flagrant shows of her power to simplify and add mysticism to her life.
Since The Transplants, when she had the Mountain God's bone marrow engrafted into her, (among other things) Unamakhalu's power has grown significantly and continues to do so; the divine blood she'd once stolen from her "Father" now produced in her own body, an endless supply that frees her from any responsibility toward its original source.   Beyond even that, Unama has begun extensively researching every Earth Equivalent to her powers since receiving (From Myths To Modern Media!) them and is forming her own school of martial arts based on these Modern Examples to maximize her abilities and make the use of them more efficient and effective for practical combat!   Unama also possesses the Kobori cultural skill of Sandwalking; a magic baked into her native society that imparts the ability to use sandy environments to conceal oneself from prying eyes.
If Unama or any trained Kobori reaches a sandy area they may simply "fade out" into the sandy terrain; unable to be seen even if they are only feet into the biome.
This does not make her invisible but instead "pulls" the sand around her into a concealing shroud that fools the eyes into thinking that it they are just looking out into the desert. It is also not an illusion of any sort and cannot be seen through by conventional spells. Both her sounds and the sight of her are shrouded by this ability but it does not mask her scent and incredibly perceptive and well trained tracking animals can still find Sandwalkers under concealment.
Due to Una's Divine connection with the earth she is able to bring her Sandwalking abilities beyond the standrd limit. Able to manipulate sand at the granular level while still moving tons upon tons of it, she can conceal entire Kinatia for prolonged periods of time.   Finally, Unamakhalu does not seem to need to sleep; getting all or at least most of her power from the boiling heart of The Mountain from which her and The Mountain God get all of their power.
While she certainly has need to eat and drink, she claims not to have properly slept since she first stole The Mountain God's Eyes.

Apparel & Accessories

Unamakhalu LOVES wearing Kandia clothing and adorning herself with all manner of Kandia Jewelry and Finery!
She often can be found wearing a traditional red Timbo of cotton; a color generally reserved for the elites. If she doesn't wear red then she wears gold hues or vibrant and attractive blue cloth in the same fashion.
Not fond of footwear, Unamakhalu normally wanders about barefoot; a stark difference from the otherwise high class coverings she wears over the rest of her body.   Not one to avoid practicality, Unamakhalu also has sets of clothing that she has modified from the Kandia Standard; shorter robes of red, gold and blue cloth that do not cut off her motion or billow nearly as much as the standard Kandia apparel. Though many seem to sneer at her improper appropriation of the Kandia Style, some find her shortening of the lower half of the robes and stitching about the arms to be a fashionable decision to break with the usual display of rigid cultural standard.
Perhaps more importantly in the warm Soterri clime, so distant from the Kandia Core, this new design of "Noble Tunic" saves material and is much cooler than the more typically voluminous court wear.   Often wearing metal adornments of Kandia make, Unamakhalu is seldom seen without her trademark "Metal Sleeves" which were made of all Kandia Materials to fit to her arms specifically. Strapped around her shoulders and chest to ensure that she can swing her arms about without restriction; this "Apparel" is as much weapon as armor; with fully articulated plates and scales extending from her shoulders to her fingertips, allowing her to fight barehanded in the fray as she prefers.
Made only of the finest materials, her Sleeves are able to repel and parry even hard swung swords and able to catch any thrown spears or javelins.
While still made of strictly mundane materials and not at all enchanted to bear the weight of magical or extremely impressive combat, Unamakhalu insists that they are presently sufficient for her needs.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Born to a pair of well respected tribal farmers on the coast of Soterri, the child who would eventually take the adult name "Unamakhalu" is said to have been born "Aware And Attentive;" Taking in everything she could without fuss or fear.
Brought before the Village Shaman, (Now "The Speaker Of The Sun") She was named "A True Daughter Of The Mountain" and many stories were told to her in her infancy and toddlerhood of the great past age where the Mountain watched over them all and protected the people.   From the moment she could stand the cultural art of sandwalking came to her naturally.
She had eyes that could see through the veil and hands that could bring sand to her aid almost independent of her will!   People Loved Her!
It was thought that she would become a great figure who would one day lead the village back into an age of The Mountain and she was fed all manner of stories that the Mountain God would accept her.   When she was three her parents brought her on the Pilgrimage To The Mountain!
It was a long trip and sometimes dangerous but her parents brought her to the very highest peak to meet Intubakhalu: The Deity Of The Great Mountain!   To their delight, the girl was everything everyone had said she was.
She was DESTINED to be his daughter!
FATED to become one with him and to deliver his will to the people.
She was, as he told them, EXACTLY what he needed to bring back The Golden Age Of The Mountain!
The New Age Of The Mountain God!   But, after all, If she was to leave behind mortality and return Intubakhalu to power... she would no longer need her parents... and they would no longer be of any use to her.
So, after seeing the object of her toddlerhood obsessions kill her parents; she ran, only three years old, back to her village.   To her surprise most did NOT accept her back into the village... but shunned her.
She had gone to The Great Mountain with her parents; strong and proud and excited.
She had returned alone, scared, grieving and desperate... And she had returned WITHOUT the blessing of The Mountain God...
In what world could they see this as anything other than a sign that she had Displeased Intubakhalu?
She, like all orphans in Kobori culture, would be left to her own devices... to die of exposure and starvation.   But, now and again, a family would take pity on her and, for a few short months, she would let herself fall into the illusion of security.   The Great Mountain is, however, a jealous deity and, if he could not have her, nobody would.
Family after family died for merely showing her kindness; all at the desire of Intubakhalu.
A great stone would fall from the sky and kill those who pitied her, every time leaving behind an orphan child just like her.
The village even moved inland to escape retribution... but The Great Mountain's Wrath would follow them wherever they went so long as they helped "The Big Girl."   She soldiered on, however.
Staying on the edge of the community and stealing, lying or trapping to feed herself and her slowly growing family of orphans, the girl learned to delegate important things to her "Children" and learned how to maintain authority among her ranks.
Eventually she had her own microcommunity; a pseudo-self sufficient group of children that understood that nobody would help them and that they needed to work in perfect harmony with each other just to survive. Everyone had a role, a job. Everyone worked somehow, even the youngest!
In time she started gathering spare things to ready herself and her family for a trip BEYOND view of the mountain... beyond Intubakhalu's wrath... And there she would start a new village that would be free of his intervention.   That time never came.
Instead, Jonathan Mondragon: The Maiden Of Health was summoned by the Mysterios of Soterri, (Now Longar Meningitis Drubarosad Soterrion!) and found his way the very next day to her little village.
Already nominally in Kandia territory, Jon had taken her village for an enemy one and killed all the men in that village before even showing himself.
Trying, as many did, to bring him down, she and her little band of orphans quickly found they, like everyone else, could not hurt Jon... they couldn't even annoy him.   And then Jon took her youngest child; Lookout.
He grabbed her and took her off into the sun...
Believing him now to have come to take their children and kill their men; Una and her remaining children were rounded up, cleaned, demanded to behave and forced into the center of the village.
The other children stayed in their huts, only the Orphans of the community left to be taken by him.   He returned carrying an SUV with a translator.
He WAS taking them... them and the now near dead Shaman and his only apprentice... Lerato; who had been the only one to get on her knees and BEG for mercy.   It became clear all too quickly, however, that Jon was not a god as she knew them... Jon was something different and, now within the bounds of Soterri Proper, The Big Girl's mind reckoned that she had what she needed to avenge her parents...
Nothing born or made within sight of the mountain can harm The Mountain God... but now, all around her, there were tools and weapons made from Kandia steel... forged and fabricated in the Core of Kanda over five thousand miles away!
She stole a knife, a learning tablet, (Modern Ipad Thing For Edutainment. Most Primes Like Jon Have A Few) a gauntlet and a few other things... like some weird "hairs" in Meningitis' Laboratory that she knew were extremely dangerous. (See Gympie Plant!)   All the while, as war surrounded the Longo, she prepared.
Eventually she simply tried to leave, getting in an altercation with Jon that brought her to using Gympie Hairs to blind him... for hours... even with his healing factor.   She would, so she claimed, "Climb The Highest Mountain! Punch The Face Of God!" and even what amounted to Superman would not stop her!
So she took the pilgrimage again for the first time in ten years, knowing it was her birthday... the anniversary of all of this. She was an adult now... She was ready to take what was hers from he who had taken everything from her!   After a day of jogging she arrived... the steaming vents of the mountain around her as she stepped into the cave wherein Intubakhalu sat.
First and foremost she tried to strike him... though nothing born or made within sight of the Mountain could hurt him...
But she DID notice the bag of Kandia equipment... was NOT under his control... even as he did NOT notice!   Dropping the violence with a well practiced facade, Big Girl told her "Father" that she'd seen the error of her ways.
He had shown her, through a decade of desperation, that there was no purpose in running anymore.
He, hearing what he wanted to hear, accepted her again! She would, so he told her, no longer need to muddy her feet with the mortals.
It was FAR more important that she serve him and help bring about a new age with him once again at the top of their pantheon!
The mortals below would worship her and she would carry out his greatest of will!
Nobody would be able to stand against them!
Nobody would be able to stand... against HIM!   But she would only join him on HER terms! She would now take her adult name... a name that showed what she was... WHO she was... what she had dealt with!
Her name would be Unamakhalu: The "Great Mother."
Childhood, after all, had never been an option...   She let him think the power was his alone, told him what he needed to hear to trust her... put on an award winning act to convince him to part with his blood for her... to give her part of his power willingly.
Power given willingly, once parted with, would never return to its source unless forced to do so. Even if she could steal away his power against his wishes it would only be temporary.
After its use it would simply return from whence it came.   And so, after a day of ceremony and ritual, she accepted Intubakhalu's blood; using ancient Kobori rites to make it HER blood... to make his power into her power.
For a day she dreamed... receiving memories of his life... of his origins... of his many battles and conflicts with other gods... of the Age Of The Mountain that had flourished until just a hundred years ago... at which point it had been struck down by foreign powers.
And she felt the instinctivel lament at the state of the universe... at the loss of The Dawn Age... as all deities do.   When she woke she could feel the earth around her.
She could control it... she could MASTER it!   And Intubakhalu, believing her now an extension of his will, brought her close and embraced her.
... And she drew upon him the stolen Kandia knife and slammed it into his guts!
Tearing and cutting and slicing at his midsection, donning a gauntlet of Kandia leather and steel, She Punched The Face Of God!   After laying him to the ground, Una straddled him, cutting open his innards and drinking from them; all the while chanting hideous Kobori incantations, guaranteeing she gain more than just calories from this crimson consumption!
Struggling against him, knowing the power of his gaze, she took her blade and gouged out The Mountain God's very, taking them in her hand and stowing them away in a little bottle as she continued to stab at his arms and legs, cut at his fingers and slice at his face.
She would NOT kill him... for she who kills a god of nature must take their place.   She had no desire to take his position... only his power!
After all, he had never had any desire for her happiness or wellbeing... only her mind and body.   She would have mutilated him more... perhaps even relieved him of a hand or foot!
However, distracted by her procurement of his literal eyeballs, she did not see his hand come to strike her; blasting her skyward through the southern wall of his mountain.
And thereafter going full eruption!   Falling miles away and cratering into the earth, Unamakhalu slept another day... consuming Intubakhalu's Memories... processing his power... the power she had successfully stolen from him.   Later she arrived back at Castan Mondragon as they prepared for battle with the native Kobori.
War was upon them and The Final War had been announced; The Head Of The Savannah Prince bejeweled and offered as a declaration of war!
Unamakhalu knew what it meant... that ALL Kobori would now fight and die against the Kandia; fanatically driven to deliver themselves to a future of forever peace and prosperity.
... She knew that ALL Kobori Children would be sacrificed to The Council Of Elders to empower them and lead the culture to victory.
Those who could not hold a spear would instead serve the Kobori in their Final War with their BLOOD!   Accepting that it now came down to full scale genocide; The Final War for the Kobori and a War Of Extinction for the Kandia... Unamakhalu chose her side and made sure her children were safe inside of Jonathan's Manor.
She would, alongside the Kandia, fight against her own kin.
She knew better than to think that her own children would have been spared this horrific end were she silent on the matter.   The Battle Of Matriarch, the ONLY battle of The Kobori Final War... was made of the nightmares of gods!
Taking active part in combat through the pitch black, storming rain of Intubakhalu's Eruption and over the explosive storms of the nearby sea, Unamakhalu noticed that the Gulf Deity Njoloch had sent an army of marine predators to kill and devour the Civilians of Soterri behind Castan Mondragon.
Breaking from formation and leaving the Leconia with The Grand Matriarch's Assault, she fell back behind Castan Mondragon, only to find them being crushed by The Gulf Deity's assault.
Without her power and voice, perhaps there would be no more civilians in Soterri... leaving it an entirely failed colony regardless of who won the war.   However, her adventures were not done there!
Hearing of her actions at The Battle Of Matriarch, Ta Thinal Do Kanda begrudgingly bestowed upon her The Rites Of Heroism; marking her a "True Hero Of Kanda" and catapulting her into the world of Kandia politics and military command!   With Jon she then traveled BACK To The Great Mountain and humbled her "Father" yet again... this time killing a team of guards offered by the Kobori before the Final War and liberating the infants and servants given to him by her desperate kin in order to gain his blessing for the battle.
Using Jon's knowledge of medicine, Unamakhalu was thereafter the first mortal to accept a blood transfusion from a deity... which she did twice...   Eventually, after sufficient experimentation and testing, Unamakhalu received a Bone Marrow Transplant from Intubakhalu (as well as a few other things!) and truly ascended to godhood!
Now, with HIS blood being produced in HER veins, she had become a TRUE Deity... a Free Deity unchained from her original source!
One of the first NEW gods in over ten thousand years!   Awaiting Divine Justice from the core in the form of Kandia's Goddess Of Law; Ustis and settling into her role as Letanar and Thinalar of Kanda, Unamakhalu finally had control... and she was not aiming to relinquish any of it any time soon!
She had so much to do, so much to build... so many more children to tend to and so much more authority to ensure that they grow up happy, well educated and beloved...   ...Something she never had for herself.

Gender Identity

Female

Sexuality

While Unama is still young and inexperienced she regards both males and females as attractive and seems to be attracted to intellectuals in her peer group; Namely The Young Scurrilos Neron Altinos.

Education

While her own native culture does not provide much in the way of education as an institution and she, as an orphan, would not have benefited from such an institution anyway; Unamakhalu has started an advanced education under Jonathan Mondragon: The Maiden Of Health and has quickly assimilated more basic Kandia information alongside what amounts to functionally modern academia!
Furthermore, since her ascension to a proper Free Deity, she is able to seamlessly incorporate any mortal language she hears into her lexicon. However, like all deities, she must still learn divine languages naturally.   Because of her newfound position in the politics of Kanda, Unamakhalu also finds herself with the power to make demands of nearly everyone in Soterri and is not at all shy with commandeering any amount of personal tutors to ensure that she understands absolutely everything about the world around her.
While her "Formal Education" has only just begun, she has been an eager student of any and all subjects that she can get her hands on, especially after her heightened understanding of written languages has piqued her interest in the many ways of gaining knowledge.   While certainly not considered a proper "Education," Part of Una's ascendance to godhood involved consuming all information in an educational tablet she stole from Jonathan shortly after meeting him. Because of this she capably understands distinctly modern concepts like physics, ecology, biology, deep time and geology; though her understanding of these concepts is still relatively rudimentary compared to the experts.
To a lesser degree she also understands basic concepts in western culture and modern media. She's especially savvy to tropes and modern motivations.

Employment

Due to her recent citizenship and promotion through the civilian ranks due to bravery and valor in combat Unamakhalu has been assigned the official position of Letanar. (As All True Heroes Do!)
Considering her position and the recent "shortage" of qualified Letanaria, she has taken it upon herself to take command of one of Soterri's four (Soon to be five!) Letania until she may organize her own.   As a True Hero of Kanda, Unamakhalu has the ability to make demands of nearly anyone in Soterri and is responsible for certain functions, though largely has no "employment" experience or any official position, merely official power.   Even still, Unamakhalu is constantly looking into the goings on of Soterri and its political and practical workings.
If she can help she shows a vested interest in lending a hand wherever it is at least moderately convenient. Her service specifically to Soterri seems almost tireless!

Accomplishments & Achievements

Highest Among Unamakhalu's Personal Accomplishments Is Her Regular Boast Of "Climbing The Highest Mountain! Punching The Face Of God!"
While this might not seem terribly impressive compared to her now normal achievements as a Free Deity, she did this all as a still mortal girl; seeking to manipulate the crazed Intubakhalu and steal his power through mundane cunning alone.   More important to the people of Kanda, however, are her achievements at The Battle Of Matriarch during The Kobori Final War!
Against her better judgment and under no obligation to the Kandia of Soterri, Unamakhalu not only used her immense power over the earth to aid in the primary combat of The Battle Of Matriarch but, upon discovering the assault of The Marine Predators, broke off from the rest of the Kandia force to protect the civilians taking shelter behind Castan Mondragon.
Thereafter she singlehandedly led the countercharge; rallying old men, women and children to charge in and slay the offending creatures sent by the Gulf Deity: Njoloch!
Through these actions Unamakhalu saved the breeding population of Soterri, and thus the existence of the entire colony, from complete destruction!   For these selfless acts of Heroism, if admittedly with great reluctance from and conflict within Ta Thinal, Unamakhalu was recognized as "A True Hero Of Kanda" and awarded land and title for her actions in service to Kanda!
In a single day she'd gone from being "The Orphan Big Girl From Nowhere" to "The Youngest Ever True Hero Of Kanda!" And "The Only Lola To Be Thinalar In Kandia History!"
She gained the title of "The War Lola" and was given the rank of Letanar Of Kanda and Thinalar of Ta Thinal; positions guaranteeing she always have a force under her command and a stake in the politics of Kanda!

Failures & Embarrassments

While nobody else considers it a failure, Unamakhalu derives GREAT embarrassment from her failure to properly defeat Njoloch: The Gulf Deity of Soterri.   Not only was she unable to deliver a crippling blow to completely humble the parasite god but, indeed, was goaded into the entire affair by the social pressures of Meningitis Soterrion and other High Ranking Officials of Soterri. Presented with the threat that Njoloch might strike at her tens of thousands of adopted children, Unamakhalu begrudgingly agreed to join them in fighting the deity while Jonathan Mondragon was off on a diplomatic mission.
Not only did this fight lead to the deaths of many Kandia soldiers but did not meaningfully injure and incapacitate the sea deity.   While Meningitis and Matofi Kayla both went into the conflict knowing that they were only aiming to DIMINISH the god's power, Una still occasionally stops to stare out at the gulf and feel shame that she couldn't properly defeat Njoloch in his element, even with help.
Now that she has attained TRUE godhood one of her greatest missions is to fight Njoloch again and bring him, like the mountain god Intubakhalu... to complete and permanent incapacitation!

Mental Trauma

Unamakhalu's list of mental traumas is almost like that of a modern day comic book antivillain!
Here's a general rundown...   Her parents were killed by an aggressively narcissistic mountain deity.
She was thereafter abandoned by her entire society at three years old; only adopted by any given family for a couple months at a time before they too met a terrifying end one by one.
Each time this happened she was forced to care for another sibling and victim of this maliciously pathological divine entity demanding she return to him and be an item of his will.
Unable to handle his gaze and to properly care for his victims, she was forced to become a single dragonmother of eight; all the while maintaining a strict personal schedule and scraping by on leftovers and discarded materials to fulfill a dream of starting her own village beyond the gaze of the mountain.   The ENTIRE adult male population of the village was completely obliterated and then her youngest child is taken by some "Demigod Of The Sun," who later returns for her and the rest of her children.
This "Demigod" is a buffoon who has no idea what he's doing or saying, all the while reminding her that she could march up to The Mountain any time and reclaim her rite to divinity; constantly treating her like a useless, defenseless child who knows not what she's talking about.
Later this culminated in a fight with her blowing SUICIDE HAIRS into his eyes and journeying on an 80 mile trek to meet her Crazy God Dad.   She was forced to pretend to love the man who killed her family and the parents of each and every one of her children; made to manipulate him just to test if she'd be able to take revenge.
Revenge plot paid off, resulting in her bloodily tearing out The Mountain God's eyes, cutting his guts open and burying her face in his squirting organs so she could lap up his literal blood to steal his power!
Then she was flung by him through the wall of the mountain and across several miles of wilderness before slamming hard into the ground at terminal velocity.   The list of trauma goes on...
This girl has had a rough life and she's done some rough stuff that no sane modern person would be able to walk away from with their hinges still in place.

Intellectual Characteristics

To call Unamakhalu a genius would be a drastic understatement.
A Genius is what she was before she became a God!
Able to understand important concepts quickly, plan even for the intrusion of supers and assimilate huge, utilitarian sections of modern languages in mere days; Unamakhalu was always able to learn quickly and apply what she's learned almost immediately. Even Jonathan Mondragon was impressed by her capacity for near-instantaneous learning.   Such was her cunning and intellect that she was able to trick her own "Father," Intubakhalu into believing that she loved him and had seen the "error" of her ways.
While The Mountain God of Soterri was never a deity of knowledge or learning, he still possesses thousands of years of experience and this comes to show how powerful Una's mind was even before she stole his blood.   All The While Pre-Ascension Unamakhalu was able to understand and plan around the fact that killing a natural deity requires their killer to replace them... and so she specifically exercised restraint enough to leave him alive; only requiring his blood.   Now, as ascendance tends to emphasize what you already are rather than give you something truly new, Unamakhalu's sheer mental power eclipses anything remotely close to "Human Intelligence!"
It is, as she says to some, "Like trying to compare stars in the night sky to the daytime sun."

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Unamakhalu is driven by her desire to learn and explore!
Having lived her entire life tied down by mortal limitations, uneducated and uncivilized villagers and a sociopathic deity aspiring to be her adopted father, Unamakhalu values and is motivated by a need to see the world and be free of such limitations! She swore, at some point, that she would no longer be limited by anyone and would work to open doors for people and explore what her society had been missing for thousands of years!
She now knows that there is so much more out there to learn and she is starving to consume all of the knowledge that can be collected and more!   Perhaps even more than that, Unamakhalu desires rather pointedly to be in control... perhaps not of everything but in such a position that others might not effect her plans and get in the way of her desires and the desires of others.
She wants to be respected and to teach others and to be regarded as a great thinker, warrior, leader and politician.
She is motivated to be recognized as an adult, a mother, an official of the state... and as a God!

Those who endanger or harm Children

Virtues & Personality perks

Given her name and general inclination, Unamakhalu's greatest virtue is probably her love for children, the poor and the helpless.
She finds the abandonment of children, the mistreatment of the elderly and disabled, contempt for the destitute and disrespect toward the ignorant to be abhorrent practices that hold society back at large and need to be done away with entirely.   She plans to use her own power as a sitting member of Ta Thinal to eventually help raise the quality of living for all within the borders of Kanda.
She would rather put her life at risk than see children be harmed and she will not stand idle as the poor are being neglected; understanding what it feels like to be left behind by society.   She regards all of the ill, poor, young, elderly, disabled and down on their luck with a sense of maternal acceptance and warmth unless otherwise insulted and/or displeased.

Vices & Personality flaws

Almost on principle, Unamakhalu is a hideously manipulative individual; having been shaped by a life of self reliance forced upon her by her primitive society and shunned by many that would have otherwise assisted her.
She has learned that it is easier to use her mind and encourage individuals to come up with her ideas "On Their Own" instead of asking and risk being turned down.
Because of this people find it difficult to know if she's lying to them or just using them for her own gains. She might compliment them and tell them they are very impressive, only to completely lose interest and transparently walk away the moment she has what she wants.   While perhaps not near as much of an issue considering her newfound authority, Unamakhalu is easily to be considered a thief of the highest class!
Inclined toward social manipulation while maintaining herself and her family first and foremost, she has no compunctions with taking something that doesn't belong to her so long as she thinks it will have a well defined use.
While certainly nothing akin to Kleptomania, Unamakhalu is always scheming and if she finds something that fits in with her present plot she WILL find a way to disappear it into her possession without others noticing.   Unamakhalu does not merely kill when she needs to but, in the heat of the moment, seems to actively enjoy hurting her enemies and seeing them die!
She has been known to bind up her opponents in earth and crush them slowly, overpower similar Earth Benders and hold them in the balance of life and death just to hear them beg, has repeatedly beaten numerous individuals even after she had clearly won and once flung a completely dismembered man off of a cliff to a several hundred foot drop.
While she would never extend this sort of bloodlust to individuals she's shared her feelings with, Unamakhalu is absolutely terrifying to watch as she deals with anyone she considers her legitimate enemy.
Watching her fight could give hardened soldiers nightmares and she seems to find exquisite delight in maintaining this reputation despite going out of her way to break no laws or traditions of war in the Kandia culture within which she's immersed herself.

Hygiene

Unamakhalu has become exceedingly enamored with the Kandia style of bathing and hygiene; quickly coming to terms with full immersion bathing, bathhouse slaves, strigils, bathing oils, soap and steam rooms!
At least twice a day she can be found bathing; when the sun rises and when the sun sets and she is often very choosy about what sort of oils she's rubbed down with!   Like most Kandia, Unamakhalu is obsessed with the combination of bathing and socializing; a far cry from the private, often minimalistic affair of hygiene that the Kobori practice!
However, despite her recent near universal adoption of Kandia bathing habits, Unamakhalu still retains her culture's signature dreadlocks; extremely fine, thin locks dyed with red ocher that she fastidiously tends to, insisting that no Kandia woman would be able to properly manage her hair if she let them try.
It is also, so she claims, a note of prestige to be able to personally maintain one's hair in her culture and individuals who are able to maintain their entire lifestyle as well as the luxury of fine hair are regarded as incredibly capable people who should be regarded with respect.
To add credence to this claim, Jonathan Mondragon's own Mistress-Concubine Lerato also insists upon the same reasoning and standards of hair care.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Though most of Unamakhalu's life has been locked in Soterri, that has begun to change and she has found herself not just as the head of servants and slaves but the leader of literal thousands all her own and the choice of an eventual companion to fight alongside her if she so desires.
Perhaps more importantly still are the private connections that she has already begun communicating with back in the core of Kanda; often seen writing letters to important people back in the capital city of Kanda Sentran.
While exceedingly private about what any of these say, it is rumored that she has already garnered the attention of some very powerful individuals across the Empire.   Extremely popular and still a bit of a Mystery to the culture she has decided to join, Unamakhalu apparently gets regular letters from random strangers throughout The Core; all seeking to turn her potential vote in the senate, tutor her in the ways of The Core, seek to marry her off to some boy and/or try to flatter her with social techniques specifically aimed at appealing to her youth and inexperience, which she hates. Already smarter than most of those sending her letters, she often dedicates them to memory and simply burns them afterward without any desire to write back.
Anyone who regards her as a child will not be regarded as a friend any time soon.   From time to time she can be seen fiddling with a strange stone that she talks into and occasionally holds to her ear as though it can talk back to her. While it is unknown who she is speaking to, it is known that this item arrived in the crate that held all of her parchmentwork, deeds and titles from The Core.   Finally, Unamakhalu is well accepted and befriended by countless elephants in the major herds of the area, well recognized for her divine power and closely connected to The Grand Matriarch; Goddess Of All The Beasts In Soterri.
It is not known exactly what her relationship with The Grand Matriarch is but it becomes apparent after not terribly much research that they are very close and are often seen with each other if they have mutual free time.

Family Ties

The closest thing to family ties that Unamakhalu would be said to have is that of her eight primary "children."
Orphans similar to her, Unamakhalu has always been the high maternal figure of their little band; directing, planning, teaching, leading, training and assigning duties to every single one of them, naming them and maintaining their health and wellbeing. She claims that her children are everything to her and that the lives of their families are on her conscience.
Though unrecognized in her own culture, The Kandia readily accept the concept of Adoption as an official form of gaining heirs and one is not otherwise regarded as less than for being an adopted child. Because of this, Unamakhalu has already registered her main children as her own with the head Skurrilos of Soterri; seeking to make everything as official as she possibly can.   After the destruction of The Mountain God's remaining central sect after The Kobori Final War, Unamakhalu was able to liberate over a hundred "Servants" of Intubakhalu as well as three hundred infants and toddlers, all of which were given The Mountain God's Power...
Despite their initial allegiances, Una has taken them under her wing and now maintains them as her own siblings and children.
Unlike her many mortal children, however, this band of specially empowered individuals is housed in a small community at the base of The Great Mountain where they may live in peace and relative comfort while they learn to handle their ability to manipulate the earth.   Loosely, as she lives with him and under his protection as a Lola, Unamakhalu is regarded as "Belonging" to Jonathan Mondragon; The Maiden Of Health, though no official parchmentwork has been signed, no official decrees have been made and nobody actually assumes that Jonathan Mondragon has any practical authority or control over this "Lola."
Instead it might be better to assume that he is her primary-most tutor and the tutor of her children whilst she grows into her position as True Hero and Thinalar.   Extremely recently Unamakhalu has taken the remaining children of the Kobori people under her protection.
While the Kobori Final War left most adults of the Kobori culture dead in the fields near Castan Mondragon and at the bottom of the Great River M'tufakhalu, The True Hero N'Golla worked together with Jonathan Mondragon: The Maiden Of Health to collect over forty thousand children and rescue them from the slaughter that came before The Battle Of Matriarch.
Refusing to let the Kobori Culture die out entirely, Una has already begun to build a small community within which to raise these children; almost all of which are younger than twelve years old.
Completely provided for by the Kandia, Unamakhalu is otherwise very protective of them and seeks to teach them the ways of sandwalking and other cultural practices that would be lost if not for her careful tutelage.

Social Aptitude

While once socially reserved and often paranoid, Unamakhalu has very quickly grown secure in both her political and divine power; developing unnaturally into the confident and mature mindset of a fully realized adult in any culture
Instinctively aware of her intelligence, wit and perfect understanding of numerous languages, Unamakhalu is often either pushy or even rude if she knows she's obviously in the right; displaying what many in Kanda might regard as a typical "child's demeanor."   However, despite her overt and often seemingly bratty nature, she's hideously charismatic with whoever she wants; quickly honing in on any given person's interests, interrogating them for everything about it and feeding them inspiring and fanciful ideas that endear them to her before they can figure out how to remove her from their presence.
Having recently become extremely extroverted due to her power and position in society, she understands keenly how to appeal to others in the moment and how to put on various faces to manipulate any social situation.
When she wants to, she will appear as anything she likes.
When she doesn't feel like putting on a social disguise, she's nothing but a stern and highly informed miniature matriarch who will not bend or budge and will annihilate any social competitors to get to her political goals.   Moreover, her dominance is often CASUAL!
Unamakhalu seldom struggles in any fashion, regarding the world more as a thrill ride than a challenge; able to turn around from nearly any mistake! She doesn't sleep, eats more, works out harder, consumes more knowledge and engages in more matters of political and social combat every passing day; Intimidating allĀ those she hasn't already made her adopted family.

Mannerisms

Despite coming from an otherwise extremely primitive culture, Unamakhalu herself often speaks in an almost modern standard while in friendly company; shortening her words, constantly using contractions and even using roundabout descriptions to label certain things she doesn't care to remember the names of.
Moreover, Una is regularly known to speak modern english or spanish with people who also understand as opposed to speaking Kandia or the Kobori Trade Tongue.   Regularly waving her hands about or using her arms and body to emphasize her point, Unamakhalu regularly stands out from her otherwise conservative and unexpressive Kobori kinsfolk.
Known to laugh out loud and joke regularly at home while enjoying Kandia wine, Unamakhalu is regularly regarded as having a loose and easy going demeanor when in her element.

Hobbies & Pets

While Unamakhalu has no specific "pets" to speak of, she HAS built herself what amounts to a sunken Zoo just a few miles from Castan Mondragon!
More or less consisting of a gigantic set of holes in the ground with stone border walls and all manner of underground passages and waterways, Unamakhalu's Zoo presently houses only Vervet Monkeys and Meerkats but, in time, she hopes it will be a huge attraction wherein she might be able to teach people about animals and conservationism.
Once upon a time she had an aardvark but a giant face in the wall ate it...

History

Unamakhalu has known Lerato all of her life and, for a time, enjoyed her company and cared to impress her as the logical heir to The Village Shaman's title.   However, after a certain amount of time as an Orphan and gaining her own children to take care of, Unamakhalu drifted apart from everyone in the village; including Lerato.
All the same, Unamakhalu was never treated poorly by Lerato and does not hold any contempt for her or The Speaker Of The Sun.   One thing that Unamakhalu never lost in the relationship was her attraction to Lerato's most beautiful dreadlocks and they continue to talk about them from time to time and tend to their hair with each other.

Relationship Reasoning

Unamakhalu understands that Lerato is a permanent fixture in Jon's life and so she puts on the public act of caring for her and having a good relationship with The Mistress-Concubine of The Maiden Of Health.
It serves everyone that they get along well and, dare either of them think it, even consider regularly enjoying each other's company in public.   Since their respective ascensions, Unamakhalu has started showing a bit more interest in The Mistress-Concubine and regards her with considerably more respect than she used to; though their relationship is, at best, a bit awkward.   Perhaps, deep down, Unamakhalu understands that Lerato is now one of the few people from their village that she can even talk to; as both of them are all but shunned by their previous friends and family in reverence of their newfound power and positions.
They are the only people who can really understand the transition from tribal savages to gods.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

Mostly Unamakhalu and Lerato "Bond" over hair and the sights and sounds of the ocean.
They are both extremely fond of the coastal environment and warm rains.   Lerato was the inspiration for Unamakhalu's choice in hair style so they are regularly seen ochering their hair together.
Indeed, recently Lerato has started helping Unamakhalu better her own dreadlocks; helping teach The Great Mother how to make them finer and thinner and to keep the ochre dye lasting longer.
Though it is thought that Una's geokinesis allows her to keep the dye in much longer than Lerato, the older still knows many secrets to proper Kobori hair care that the younger was never taught!

Wealth & Financial state

Though she does not technically possess much in the way of liquid assets other than an admittedly generous stipend granted to her via her position as a Letanar, Unamakhalu has been granted an impressive estate by Ta Thinal Do Kanda to retain her loyalty alongside all of the other benefits afforded by the Rites Of Heroism.
Because of this estate, a reasonably sized Shar in The Core, Unamakhalu certainly has possession of a number of slaves and servants that live upon her land as well as a "modest" domicile that she may maintain as she sees fit.
This estate also not a lifetime lease as many properties are but rather an owned property which will remain in possession of her family in perpetuity; recognizing her service above and beyond the call of duty to Kanda.   Her property and position as a True Hero Of Kanda also ensures that she does not have to pay for much in society and may freely manipulate inventories at the most basic levels to see that she and her own have what they need to properly live and govern.
In this way, Unamakhalu has almost no tangible wealth but also the very concept means less to her than the layperson.
