Almindi I Marcosiad Essaro

Leev / Sharleev Almindi Marcosiad Essaro

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Almindi I is a typical, "Average" bodied individual of roughly Italian/Greek ethnicity in absolutely absurd physical condition, with a body just under five and a half feet tall, short, curly hair and readily visible muscular definition throughout his entire form.

Facial Features

Possessing of a strong chin and a very appealing scar across it, Almindi keeps his face clean shaven and open to view. He does not have sharp features but definitely has well sculpted cheekbones and a strong forehead.

Mental characteristics

Gender Identity

Almindi is a typical Kandia male in almost every respect; right down to the traditional explanation of what "a man" is and should be. He accepts this well.

Sexuality

Almindi is very fond of the female touch and has never developed the typical soldier's taste for male company. While he does not judge (it's part of their culture!) he also does not indulge homosexuality. He loves his wife dearly.

Mental Trauma

Almindi's life is a DEEPLY scarred one, littered with ultra-violent encounters in the Midwest and northern borders along the Savage Coldlands Daroba Tribes. Even his training was incredibly traumatic; having been identified for an incredibly strong mind and recruited into the Kandia 124th Legion; Mago Actia Kandaria Regilia, (Magic Fighting Kanda Regulars) one of the foremost legions of the Empire, known for patrolling the harshest borders to guard the nation against Daroba that have unknown and foul magics.
During his 20 years of service Almindi was subject to numerous failed battles and Pyrrhic victories, wherein he was the sole survivor of many. Almindi has lost many Leconia (Battle Brothers) and has been taken captive by Daroba magicians no less than 10 times, all but one of which he was able to break himself out thanks to the training given to him by his Legion. During none of these instances of capture did he ever give any information to the enemy even when faced with magical torture and mind probing. However, this has soured his taste for the frontier and brought him to the conclusion that he'd much rather spend his life in the Core, caring for his children and wife and land.
Moreover, constant attempts at poisoning and pushing of alcohol by the Midwest Daroba have led him to dislike the taste of alcohol and the feeling of intoxication and so Almindi is rarely seen drinking anything alcoholic; instead preferring water or fruit juices or sweetened berry mashes. This is not a common choice but it is seldom questioned when he turns down a glass of wine.

Intellectual Characteristics

Almindi is regarded by all who know him as both a stoic intellectual and a patron of the arts; having both belonged to an intellectually bound legion in his military service and being part of the Essaro, a family well known for their preservation of old imagery, storytelling, art and technology, to say nothing of their more recent contributions.
Almindi himself is actually always thinking, scheming and otherwise trying to plan better things for his life, constantly lost in his own mind even during conversation. Many think he is a bit airheaded because of this and his many years in combat but in actuality Almindi has several trains of thought running at any point and can match most scholars in various types of debate, though he is known for being LESS faithful and trusting of the old stories than most. To him the world is a physical thing and those that are not physical have little merit. Physical things that could have merit should be studied and utilized.

Morality & Philosophy

Almindi, as a war hero by his own hand, believes in self determination and hard working meritocracy. He believes that ALL people, slaves included, are to be given the chance for self perfection and excellent and thereby freedom and so saves half of all wages for his slaves in personal accounts to eventually help them buy their freedom. HOWEVER, Almindi also believes harsh, absolute punishments sow the seeds of loyalty and obedience. If a Slave Displeases him or his guest severely that slave will simply be sold to someone else and Almindi will keep the private account. If one is to go far in this world they must have ready available incentive and readily known punishments. Since the punishment for disobedience and deviancy on the battlefield is generally death or immediate disqualification of citizenship and discharge from service, Almindi finds the ejection of discharge of his own servants at such insubordination to be reasonable.   Almindi's philosophies are not strictly dedicated toward slaves. He regards any business partners, personal guard, contractors and hunting partners in this fashion. Publicly, Almindi is seen as a distant and gruff pragmatist that has a firm sense of what is right and wrong and will utilize it freely with scathing dialog if need be.
