The Province of Arlogas

Arlogas, realm of the three great houses, known by the natives as Maloxhi or the Everbloom, is a realm filled with life, not only of the peoples that inhabit it, but also of the Erunxhul--or the Verdant Walkers--great towering trees that wander the jungle said to be the mothers of the treant, and the lesser plant-like beings the Arboren. These Erunxhul are living cities of many tribes within the province, wandering the lands they migrate yearly towards the heart of Arlogas where they gather under the gaze of the Everbloom, which is said to be the first of these Erunxhul, seeded at the planets creation and from its roots the jungles around Arlogas flourished, within the mighty boughs of these nomadic trees lies the first great house, the Taran'Rosha.   While the towering canopies gave life to the beings of green, upon the jungles floor great shell-bugs crawled, or flew through the boughs of the forest, hunted--or herded--these beasts form the second of three great tribal peoples within the realm, known as great houses, these people, the Zoran'Balah, dwell within cities of shells and bone formed from the hunted creatures that gave rise to their way of life. Though the jungle is a dangerous place, even for those up in the boughs of trees, these chitinous cities are protected by an ancient magic infused within the shells by the shapers of the Zoran'Balah.   Lastly, upon the flourshing grasslands and devasted wastes at the northern edge of Arlogas lies the 3rd great house, the Fellan'Rosha, and the fading remnants of its fourth and nearly forgotten house, the Gaellen'Aer. Here the people of Fellan'Rosha have ceded away their once great culture, mixing with the empire that once sought to tame their wild lands they have grown accustomed to the merging of cultures, taking their primal magics and joining them with the civilized way of life of the once mighty empire of Vazia. Here they join the natural magics of their ancestral druids with the civilized construction of the empire, forging great cities and taming the land to fit their needs. Though the mountain folks of the Gaellen'Aer were once as mighty as the Fellan'Rosha they have since been lost to time, the few survivors of Dahak's Wrath have integrated themselves into the Fellan'Rosha joining with the house, strengthening it and the peoples of the grasslands.

History

One of the few nations that existed during the time of the Primogens, the people of Maloxhi began as a seedling in a vast empty desert with but a single budding oasis that was blessed by the spirits, transforming the wasteland overnight into a sea of green, a vast jungle of life that did not exist only moments ago. It is said upon its growth and for centuries after, that the Primogens sought to tame this newly risen land of plenty, but failed time and time again, seeking to burn away, to harvest this magic that grew so fast this once barren land, but they would not succeed, the very first seedling, gifted life by the spirits awoke, tearing free from its earthly hold it walked the jungles and grasslands and swept away the Primogens, pushing back the invaders, and ensuring the safety of the jungle. Through this path to salvation, the first of the Erunxhul awoke, and from its boughs grew the people of Taran'Rosha, the guardians of the green.   After this great war, there was peace for a time, the jungle swelled with life as people flocked to this new land free from the oppression of the Primogens. For centuries this peace stood, all living by the embrace of the everbloom, that is until the Divergance. A period of fire and wrath, sundered this peace, splintering the great houses into four, war waged throughout the jungle and manifestations of the the peoples pain, anger, and hatred formed, transforming some of the verdant walkers into twisted versions of their past selves, once peaceful plants tore free from their roots and hunted without mercy the people of Maloxhi. Beasts never seen before now roamed the jungle causing destruction in their wake. A great fire blazed throughout the northern lands of Maloxhi burning away the jungles and leaving behind an ashen wasteland. During all of this pain and loss, the worse was yet to come, the Everbloom grew dark, a black ichor poured from its bark, poisoning the land, or perhaps the land poisoned the Everbloom as some believe, but this shock caused pause for the people of Maloxhi. The fighting stopped, as the warring factions met as one, they put aside their differences and joined once more to restore what was lost. Though now fractured, these people formed the four great houses known today, and through their efforts the Everbloom was cured of its sickness.   Fearing the destruction that was caused by the splintering of their people, the great houses, and their tribes, though now fractured, formed an alliance. Working as one they rebuilt what was lost, each taking to a key hold within the realm. Now reunited the peoples of Maloxhi flourish, building grand cities, their influenced spread far, as they met with other peoples, formed peaces, began trade, and shared the vision of the Everbloom. Though at this time another empire formed. One that sought expansion not through peace, but through the sword. The war machine of Vazia grew and conquered realm after realm, holding all of the Midlands, it pushed outwards into the Golden Marches, into Yokugan, Erazor, and even Maloxhi.   The Vazian empire was too strong, for the outlying peoples of Maloxhi, the great houses of Fellan'Rosha and Gaellen'Aer fell to its might, though the other houses held strong, protected by the Everbloom and the Erunxhul. With the outlier houses having been conquered and assimilated into the empire, though some resistance still remained, it was held by the empire until its splintering during the Wrath of Dahak where the Gaellen'Aer were destroyed by the explosive force of the falling sky. Fractured once more, with Fellan'Rosha swelling with the survivors of Gaellen'Aer, the peoples of Maloxhi, or the empires word for the people as The Province of Arlogas, an uneasy peace holds still but for how long...

Geography

Maloxhi is a land deeply rooted in the natural world, the plants having a mind of their own come to life as sentient beings that work as one with the wandering city-like trees and the great shell-bugs upon the jungles floor. It is a land of vast jungles, beautiful crystal-blue lagoons, great towering cliffs, hidden grottos, white sandy beaches, verdant grasslands and maze-like swamps. The natural resources held within include the shell-bug chitin, an extensive list of flora both medicinal, recreational, and magical, fine fruits and vegetables, clusters of gems, and precious metals.

Government

Maloxhi is a land of thousands of lesser tribal peoples, all of which look upon the great houses of the land for guidance, who in turn seek insight from the Everbloom. These great houses are familial structures, often ruled by a matriarch, though a patriarch is not unheard of, each of four great houses function similar to the feudal rule of the empire--lord at the top, with advisors beneath them, and advisors beneath those advisors and so on. Though the structure is familial in nature, the great houses often adopt and invite non-family members, and even non-natives into the folds, it is a land where ones skill, experiences, and accomplishments are the true path to success. Though true leadership is still judged and chosen by the Everbloom herself.   The ruling class of Maloxhi is often headed by wise and spiritual shamans that have been marked by the Everbloom and though much of the tribal peoples governance is left to them, a universal law is formed by the great houses and the Everbloom. The three remaining great houses and their Saratha are as follows; the Taran'Rosha ruled by Saratha ul Akash vas Taran'Rosha. The Zoran'Balah ruled by Saratha ul Meleite ves Zoran'Balah. The Fellan'Rosha ruled by Saratha ul Chandi ves Fellan'Rosha.

Structure

Royalty

Maloxhi has a spiritually chosen ruler for each of the great houses, marked by the Everbloom with a braided vine-tattoo, the chosen, known by the people as the Saratha. This title is singular to each house, chosen by the Everbloom to lead the peoples of of that house and to ensure the strength of that hold within the realm remains true. Through this connection the Saratha leads their house and the peoples of their realm guiding them through the twisting fates of the jungle.

Ranks and Privileges

The noble titles conferred upon Maloxese citizenry maintain a specific function within the governance of the state. While the meanings and grandeur of these titles may change over generations, the current government recognizes the following noble titles in hierarchy from greatest to least.
  • Saratha: A great house's high shaman and elder, ruler of an entire great house and the tribes that make up their house within the realm. This title is given once to each of the four great houses of the realm, though the fourth house having been destroyed not long ago remains empty of this seat. The Saratha govern the lands of their house and thus the lands of each tribe within their house, ensuring that all within the province are safe and well.
  • Ulenda: The Ulenda is a governor of sorts for the Maloxhi great houses, acting as a spiritual connection for the house and as a governor for a region within the vast jungles and plains of the realm. The Ulenda serves under the Saratha as their council and connection between the spirits, the Saratha, and the clan itself.
  • Hlassa: The Hlassa is the ruler of a specific land or hold within the realm, acting as spiritual leaders and elders they govern the individual needs of the nomadic band or of the stationary hold.
  • Belenba: A Belenba is a representative of the Hlassa, typically they serve as a justice for the community, chosen by their Hlassa they serve to ensure the peace, and keep to the sacred traditions of their people.

Religion

Maloxhi are connected to the great Everbloom tree and in turn to the natural world, through this connection a spark of divinity is granted to those practitioners who heed the call. Through their devotion to the Everbloom, Gozreh has granted them her blessing, acting as the patron of the realm, she acts as a bridge for the people of Maloxhi and the Everbloom, though their greatest connection lies with the Everbloom, and thus with Gozreh, they do share a connection and pay respect to the deities Desna and Sarenrae, and for the northern province, the deity Erastil.   The faiths of Dahak, Ghlaunder, and Urgathoa are all outright forbidden in the lands, for the pain and suffering these three deities and their followers have caused.
