The Golden Marches

The sand-swept dunes and golden fields of Malajdrin el Vorath literally translated to The Golden Pride, We That Roar, are a loose grouping of clans and nomadic tribes that have come together as one through the spiritual guidance of their ancestors to march as one pride, under one banner. The peoples of Malajdrin, or commonly known to the neighboring countries as The Golden Marches due to the vast untamed land and golden fields that comprise it, are a deeply spiritual people, preserving the land that they stand on and seeding it with the bones of their prey. The people join as one, nomadic or otherwise within the grand pride-city of Vodrin Karath eth Julah, the spiritual home of the nation and the birthplace of their ancestors.

History

The united clans of Malajdrin were formed after the divergence in the smoldering ruins of the ashen lands, a barren landscape that was burnt to ash during the Fall of Lost Skies. It is said that during this period the people warred over what little land was still alive, that they fought for the scraps that remained, but one clan sought something else, they sought peace, they sought not to shed blood, but to grow and sow seeds of life.   It is said that when the first of the Makasa climbed down from the burning treetops, she gave a roar, calling for the spirits aid, to save her people from the fire that raged and from their hatred that burned brighter. The spirits answered her call, sending rains that swept through the lands and from their life giving water the barren lands flourished with a sea of golden grass and a swath of glimmering trees the land was reborn.   Within the spot where the first Makasa called, the mighty Baobab grew, and encased the tribes that answered the Makasa's roar, it grew and grew until all of the clans were protected by its boughs, at its heart a pool formed, crystal clear with a glimmering sheen the pearlescent waters a connection between the spiritual and the pride, it is here where Vodrin Karath eth Julah was formed, and the warring clans stood united as one people, finding peace with their new leader, the Makasa al Jarath, The One that Speaks for the Spirits.

Religion

The Golden Marches are connected to both the spiritual and the divine, a strange combination that calls strength of divinity and the life of spirits to guide them through the darkness. Through their divine guide, Desna acts as a bridge for the people of Malajdrin and the Spiritual realm, though the Malaji are spiritualists first they do share a connection and pay respect to the deities Gozreh, Irori and Alseta.   Overall though, the Malaji tend to pray to the spirits of the earth, sea, and sky; their hopes and their offerings sent to aid their land so that it may never be lost to the darkness again. This darkness is well known throughout the golden plains of Malajdrin, the rough beast, Rovagug destroyer of all is said to be the cause for the great fire his corruption contorting the views of pride, and sending the great fires during the divergence. His worship is banned and hunted down like a cat to a mouse.

The dark can never envelop the light of our pride!
