Pantheon of Bounty

The most popular religion in Syndeomai is the Pantheon of Bounty. Most farming communities ascribe to this loose collection of beliefs that center around the gods of harvest. At each harvest, workers leave offerings to the gods, who have explained that these offerings serve to sustain them as the process to create nectar and ambrosia was disrupted at the end of Utopia.

Gods and Offerings

Every harvest, a portion of crops and animal products are offered to the gods. The exact amount is dependent on the quality of harvest. When a village has a particularly good year, as much as a quarter of the harvest is offered to the gods while the rest is stored in preparation for more difficult years. In order to leave an offering to the gods, the crops, animals, and animal products are left in a designated shrine--typically located at the center of the village. Deep in the cover of night, servants of the gods come directly to the Material Plane to collect the offerings.

Gods

Ilos, God of Sun and Agriculture is responsible for the sun, which is known to be essential for the growth of crops. In his honor, grain is milled into bread and left in the shrine as without the sun, there would be no bread.   Gin, God of Earth and Craft created the soil in which crops grow. To ensure that the soil remains strong, root vegetables and tubers are left in his honor. These vegetables grow almost entirely underground and are therefore more in tune with Gin.   Pano, God of Storms controls the weather, by which plants are watered. A bad storm can ruin a harvest, so the yields of crops are directly tied to his capricious will. As Pano is an engineer, people offer prepared. Some believe that more complex dishes please him more, but Pano has neither confirmed nor denied this belief.   Vio, Goddess of Life created the crops and animals that sustain communities. Live animals are left in her honor, tied to a stake by the shrine. She takes these offerings to live with her in the Aether, where they roam through pastures filled with lush grasses for their natural lives.

Celestials

While the Aether Gods are worshiped by all sects of the Pantheon of Bounty, the worship of Celestials depends on the predominant agricultural product of the region. The most popular Celestial is Kalli, the Gardener. She is worshiped by communities that cultivate more sensitive crops that require closer attention, and these crops are offered in her honor.   Regions that rely predominately on domesticated animals revere Bosk, the Shepherd. He protects animals and their caretakers alike from harm--natural and supernatural alike. Animal products, such as eggs, hides, milk, and meat, are offered for his continued aid.
