Benthammer Brewery

The Benthammer family is a peculiar sect of Dwarves of the way of Spirits, a pun in and of itself.  They take great pleasure and knowledge from the brewing process of ales, meads, barley wines, and the like.  The Benthammer Monastery in Stonnard is the last remnant of this following from the days of the Iron Onslaught.  The common folk are enamored with whatever brews these fine folk produce, and they've made a name for themselves in the Western reaches in the Corezzion Dominion State.  Those in the Iron Empire practicing the Way of the Spirit make this a place to learn and study, as they find the art of brewing links them to life.  Often, these Dwarves will travel from far reaches in the empire to study at the hands of the actual Benthammer Brewers.  Ilde Benthammer, the current family matron and keeper of the Monastery, finds some of this to be a rather unnecesssary, but will take any willing to work for free and support the monastery.  Ilde has also been approached on a large number of occasions to attempt to mass produce and distribute their ales throughout the Dominion State due to the high interest.  Ilde has a stubborn traditionalist streak, and firmly believes that her familes' practices should not be diluted by the ever present "need for greed" that tends to drive many throughout the Dominion State.

Purpose / Function

Place of worship of the modest Benthammer Dwarves during the Iron Onslaught, and a point of pilgrimage for members of the Way of Spirits.  Would be an out of the way relic, were the current Benthammer's not so willing to share their creations, like their ancestors.

Alterations

A brewery operation has expanded with aid from the Corezzi

Architecture

This building is the most Dwarven of the buildings left in Stonnard, and additions have been done in the traditional dwarven structure, by request of the Benthammer

History

The monastery has survived sieges throughout it's tenure, from the wars in the Iron Onslaught, to the chaos of the Aligning of the Planes

Tourism

People come to visit on their pilgrimages to learn the Way of the Spirit.  Others stop to see the secrets of new brews and attempt to purchase and distribute.
