Beybin

Despite the territory covered by Narkish, the capital city of Beybin is a fairly small but busy settlement. The SkyBridge is covered with pools of water with tasty or exotic fish bred for sale, bogs growing cranberries, and farms of local produce. Seafarers frequent the city both for trade purposes and to charge their metal stores with magic from the Ley Loop.

Demographics

The primary inhabitants are Danlae, but there are other peoples in this "capital" city including ambassadors and merchants.

Infrastructure

The heart of the city is located on a large SkyLand with the remainder of the city sprawls out below and around the SkyBridge.

Water from the three springs in the SkyLand and from the frequent rains are routed around the central city then funneled down the SkyBridge to form pools and bogs. At each pool or bog, there is a separate pipe above the water that people use for drinking and cooking.

Districts

SkyLand - There are numerous small pools on the top of the SkyLand, most for water collection, a few for bathing and swimming, and a few for ornamental fish. A few of these pools are shaded by canopies, but most are not. The home of the current Sage is part of the government building here. In addition there are guilds, shops, communal dining areas, and homes.

SkyBridge - Many people live and work on the SkyBridge near the pools and bogs where fish and cranberries are grown. Some also work to grow other produce for the town. There is a road leading up to the SkyLand on the western side, but more of a path leading down the eastern side. On both sides, there are many large spaces with tables set up for communal dining.

Under Bridge - Under the bridge, the water of the Fleabitten River flow into the sea. There is a harbor on the western side where traders dock their boats. There are also docks on the eastern side used primarily by fishermen. Numerous hippocampi are raised in this area and use to haul barges across the river or up the river into Narkish.

Bridge Ends - The western bridge end is the busiest as traders from ships and caravans from Zel and western Narkish enter the city from this side. There are many warehouses located in the area (and under the bridge on this western side) as well as shops selling food and wares. The eastern bridge end is quieter, more used by the locals than visitors.
