Department of Historical Accuracy

As a subset of SIVIC, this department has a number of duties that they've taken on over the years that actually deal with keeping adequate historical records, particularly as it pertains to people with superpowers and the actions of SIVIC themselves. Perhaps the public can't know exactly what goes on with each battle, or the prices that were paid for various victories, but it's recorded somewhere, not to be forgotten. They serve a legitimate and useful function.   Such a shame that they come from such rotten roots.   Some secrets, the background details of superhero fights that simply can't be publicly known yet, should remain hidden for a while. Others should remain secret forever, like secret identities of people who don't want to be revealed.   Then there's "optics." One of my least favorite words, really. The secrets that are kept on behalf of a select group of people because "they'll look bad if we tell everyone this thing." Sometimes it's pathetic and the person wanting the secret kept needs to get over their fear of the public and understand that it's important to show that not everyone is perfect.   Also you should probably not cover up things detailed under the Geneva Convention. Like child experimentation.   At present, DOHA isn't the worst. They're more advocates for privacy. But originally they were the segment of SIVIC used to make sure that no one remembered the things that the Epoch Society were capable of. And when SIVIC underwent its restructuring, this department was the one entrusted with keeping the whole affair under wraps. Because the public didn't need to know the truth, or even that anything had gone wrong, and just needed to trust that SIVIC knew what they were doing and were the good guys the whole time and that never changed.   In case you haven't guessed, I have a different opinion.
