AC versus Epoch

Note: The more I (Lady Grayish) examined this prompt and my thoughts, the more I realized it's actually a pretty major battle in the sequence of my planned series, essentially closing out Act 2 of the overall series and providing a much needed moment where Ruby successfully works with a team. As such, I'm not in a place where I can adequately write this yet, so it's more of a placeholder with lots of notes that will likely change a fair amount by the time it can be a formal article.   Academics Club is not intended to fight supervillains. Most chapters will end up fighting at least one at some point simply because training young people to use their powers to fight for good is a sure way to attract negative attention, but also the adults in charge usually want to keep their adolescent charges away from danger.   As stated, while this usually doesn't work, this incident is a particularly egregious instance of that failure. Still, we won in the end, and that's what counts.   The Epoch Society made it their personal mission to go after me, much in the same way that I made it my mission to go after them. Except for the part where they kidnapped and experimented on me as a child and where they are a broad organization where all I really did was expose them for the vile people they are, and they were trying to hunt me down and murder me for daring to defy them. Other than that, it was really exactly the same situation.   It was in some ways a year-long cold war, culminating in one final battle. A team of teenagers versus a power hungry organization that had made its entire goal to accumulate as much power in the literal and figurative senses as possible.
