Sersyl

God of Chaos, Great Destroyer, Devourer of Gods Sersyl (a.k.a. Sery, Ser, Ashihote, Apocalypse, The Spotted Trickster)

Once a lesser trickster and chaos god, Sersyl plotted, schemed, and killed their way to become the only god left in existence. Their power incomprehensibly greater, they are the one who caused the Collapse that has left Sumano in ruins. Seemingly they act on instinct, but there is a deviousness to them that allows them to craft dark plans. They are unstable, difficult to predict, and obsessively determined to finish the apocalypse once and for all.

Divine Domains

All domains, primary is Chaos and Entropy

Holy Books & Codes

Serorso: Transcribed by countless hands over the eons, the Serorso contains the small amount of orders Sersyl gives to their followers. Instead, the book mostly contains observations of the true power of chaos, describing it as not a force of evil but simply nature and the only true means to further advance.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

A swirling explosion with horns

Tenets of Faith

The laws of gods and mortals are to be defied in order to live the fullest life possible.

Do not hesitate to take what you want, to seek fortune and fame if it is what your heart desires.

The time to act is now, stillness only breeds laziness and complacency.

Be unafraid to seek the power you need to accomplish your goal. If you lack the strength I will give it to you, and in turn you will obey. Freedom will remain yours, but when I call you will answer.

Chaos is the natural order of the world, and those who would restrict it are deceivers who must be enlightened by any means necessary.

Chaos is what causes change, improvements, excitement, reasons to exist.

Never look back, for there is only forward.

Holidays

Day Of Dark Sun: Shared with the gods Azachi (sun), Moite (moon) and Sumano (mother nature), this day was the first solar eclipse in the history of Sumano. Caused when Sersyl goaded the three gods into a competition to prove who was more powerful, Moite won when she managed to eclipse the entire planet with her moon, blocking out Azachi's rays. This caused panic among the people, which Sersyl delighted in, however it has now become a staple holiday of Sumano with feasts every solar eclipse.   The Day The World Ended: Only celebrated by the most devoted of followers, this holiday is the day Sersyl defeated the gods Txchelcan (time), Ki and Pharan (life and death), and Ummar (order), the only remaining gods. Upon absorbing their power, Sersyl ended a forty year fight and plunged Sumano into an ice age. It is a loud feast in honor of their all-powerful god.   Jokria: A peculiar holiday shared with non-followers, it is a celebration intended to cause laughter so great one's sides might burst. Based on a legend of Sersyl pulling pranks and telling brilliant jokes to their fellow gods when they were little more than a chaotic trickster. Even in 50 TC it is heavily popular with the intents of lifting the heavy spirits of the survivors in the ice age.

Personal history

Ancient

"Once all I wanted was to hear the laughs of others and delight in their embarrassment. Then I grew up."
Born in the great creation alongside all the other gods, Sersyl was once a naive, playfully mischievous minor god. They eagerly explored the world as the more powerful gods created Sumano, stringing stars in the sky and creating life. Sersyl's curious nature quickly drove them to disrupting the perfect balances that the gods were creating. In the beginning they were like a child, asking questions and trying to do things their way. As more time came to pass, Sersyl began to undergo a shift. Their rival god, Ummar (order), was heavily discouraging of Sersyl's antics. Their 'pranks' often had disastrous outcomes such as the panic on the Day of Dark Sun, and other gods began to fear it could cause great damage to the world. Ummar specifically began to attempt to assert control which Sersyl naturally vocally protested. Their antics began to become spiteful, specifically targeting what they viewed as the rot of the gods. It is within their very nature to abhor institutions of law and order, and so they excelled at sewing chaos which always made Ummar furious.   The chief pantheon of gods; Txchelcan (time), Ki and Pharan (life and death), Ummar, Azachi (sun), Moite (moon) and Sumano (mother nature) gathered to discuss the fate of Sersyl. They were growing beyond that of a nuisance, however they all knew that Sersyl was as important to the balance of the universe as they were. More often than not the conversations would steer towards imprisonment, or magical relics to make them submit to the will of the other gods. Sersyl learned of their gatherings and grew enraged. This fueled their desire to prove themselves stronger than the others, and Sersyl invested heavily in their followers and growing their influence. It was at this time that Sersyl went to Isabel, the Dragon of Knowledge and Wisdom. They demanded of her how to defeat the other gods, and upon her refusal revealed their identity and slew her in battle. When she was reborn a mortal, Sersyl considered it punishment enough, and forgot about her many centuries. Instead they sought their answers elsewhere, learning the weaknesses of the other gods and plotting how to destroy them starting with the lesser gods. Along the way they hunted every other dragon and slayed them, growing their power and weakening their enemies.   They became obsessed with this, a desperate need for survival and their very own nature fueling them. The other gods were growing restless as well, as Sersyl's investigations were causing even greater chaos than ever. They'd ventured across planes of existence, gathering loyal demons to their side, and making allies where they needed to. In the year 5001, 1 TC on Azachi the 1st, Sersyl enacted their murderous plan. This signaled the start of The Collapse, and Sersyl made themselves the true Bringer of the Apocalypse.

Modern

"They sought to control me, to put chains on my heart and mind. So I destroyed them."
Fueled by an obsessive belief that they were justified in their desperate act of survival, Sersyl changed the universe in one great terrible act. The other gods rallied against them, but with the power they'd consumed by slaying all the lesser gods in one fell move, Sersyl was already too powerful to be stopped as before. They went into hiding and lured their hunters out to slay them one by one. Isabel specifically plotted against them, and Sersyl found themselves drawn to her.   With the aid of their servants, Sersyl managed to evade the attempts by the other gods until 30 TC. Cornered by Sumano herself, Sersyl narrowly managed to trick her into destroying Azachi and Moite thinking them Sersyl. Sumano was so overcome with guilt that she was easily defeated by Sersyl afterwards. Consuming such powerful gods made Sersyl experience a near split, and instead volcanoes and earthquakes shook the world. They fell into a blind rage for several months, laying waste to anything they came across, the gods within them almost too much. During this time, several upper gods attacked Sersyl, however were slaughtered due to the sheer chaos they were emanating.   On Darjo 14th of 40 TC, Sersyl was faced with the remaining gods. Txchelcan, Ki, Pharan, and Ummar had hatched a plot to destroy Sersyl entirely. Summoned to Gods' Throne, Teyro, Sersyl found themselves surrounded by vengeful gods. The battle between them was terrible, lasting weeks on end with none able to fully defeat them. That was until Sersyl used their stolen powers to create and eclipse and opened the gates of every celestial realm. Overwhelmed, the four gods attempted a retreat, and that was when Sersyl slew Txchelcan, Ki and Pharan. Ummar faced off against Sersyl alone, empowered due to being their rival god, and goaded Sersyl to not use their demons to defeat them. In a burst of insane emotion, Sersyl laid out to Ummar how twisted they truly were, and declared themselves Ashihote, the bringer of the apocalypse according to ancient prophecy. Then they defeated their greatest rival and enacted the ice age.   Sersyl spent the next ten years sowing further chaos across the world, manipulating and twisting the struggling mortals around their finger. They've found extreme pleasure in this, their purpose near to fulfillment.

As the God of Chaos, they loathe any semblance of order, and even their own plans appear more like seemingly random elements thrown together when ultimately it is a well crafted scheme.

Social

Fellow gods (consumed)

Religious Views

As a deity themselves, Sersyl naturally has a positive view of religion. They had nothing against the other gods personally, nor their worshipers. As they began to expand their powers, they steadily sought to undermine the other gods until they were strong enough to take them on in battle. Sersyl views religion mostly as a means of gaining strength and influencing the world to their desires.

Social Aptitude

Sersyl is the epitome of confidence and charm. They are unparalleled in their ability to manipulate, with only the strongest of wills able to resist them. Extroverted, domineering and easily unhinged, Sersyl can slip between an imposing all-powerful god to something insane and bursting at the seems in a moment.

Mannerisms

Ever the egomaniac, Sersyl has to establish themselves as the dominant force in every situation. They are fluid, moving about with precision and almost dancing. When in-the-right-mind, Sersyl is silvery and cunning, liking to get near their prey or posture about like a predator. As they lose control of their mind, Sersyl quickly becomes unhinged. Their voice jilts with laughter, their body shifts randomly, and they grip their horns and scream.

Speech

Their voice is androgynous, though depending on how they feel they can alter it to a more masculine or feminine tone. They always ooze confidence and are difficult to sway. Sersyl has no particular manner of speaking, as that would mean they were adhering to some set of rules. When they are unstable, their voice sounds like a thousand different ones, though their own remains the dominant.

History

When Sersyl demanded the secret of how to kill the other gods, and Isabel refused, a terrible battle ensued. In the end, Sersyl won, and Isabel died only to be reborn as a mortal stripped of her powers. Sersyl decided this was punishment enough, and sought their answers elsewhere. Isabel devoted herself to stopping Sersyl, and while she could not prevent the Collapse, she intends on ending it. Sersyl finds her attempts not only amusing, but endearing. They've developed a sick love of her, something she openly rejects. Eons spent fighting one another are soon coming to a head.
